I have been to the Grand Canyon. My two sons, sister and my niece. All I have to say is there is a God. I have never seen such beauty. I cried, when I saw the beauty. It was the last trip that my sister and I did. She passed three years ago. It was the best trip with my sons. Glad I could share this with them.
I agree that the canyon is something else, but it was formed by nature without intervention from any God.
Bernie, I don’t know you and by your remark I’m sure not missing anything either.
Well said Mike! Bernie, “some” opinions are just better left unsaid! (the latter of your remark). But Hey! Thats MY opinion! Whatever keeps oneself HAPPY! : ) 🙂 Have a good one! LOVED the amazing pics! Can’t wait to make it there someday!!!!!!
Right. As usual, the fact that soil erosion requires no divine intervention is called an “opinion” which should “be left unsaid,” while superstition and misinterpretation of all evidence is revered and respected.
I really urge you to research carefully the evidence for creation before you call it an “opinion”. If you do your research with a biased view to begin with I can see where you went wrong.
this is completely surreal. look at the river….see that it’s in the bottom of the canyon. watch the water eroding the walls and soil = canyon created by erosion. it’s shocking people are still debating this. if you have a basic high school education and you paid attention it should be clear. what’s behind all of this is a mystery and should be celebrated as that. but don’t take your religious book and try to use it to educate.
Bernie, you really are in for a rude awakening. You are entitled to believe whatever you like.
Doesn’t really matter, God believes in you all the same. Have a good life.
God Made everything on this earth Including us,one thing he did not create was your attitude and outlook on thing’s that Sir Is MAN Made!!
So! Who made God?
To whom ever reads this comment, I really hope you can understand.
Now, about that comment, you see, I know for a fact that all things made with
so much beauty does indeed come from OUR Father God, please know, God blessed whom ever
with the ability’s to make such beautiful wonders here on earth. Now the comment,” Who Made God,”
well,do your self a good thing, pray and ask God, “where He came from.”
What is amazing is that fifty per cent of Americans do not believe in evolution. Rather than the majesty of the Grand Canyon formed through million of years of wear, some foolishly believe everything was created six thousand years ago. Nature itself, alone, contains the entire gamut of beauty to ugly, kindness to utter cruelty and so forth without any intervention by spirits.
Actually God did create his attitude, that very action makes for stronger Christians.
The Grand Canyon is one of God’s messages to man. God’s main interest is to Love and Fulfill people by helping them find the most intimate relationship possible – which is within Him. All the world – or at least the parts which have not been polluted by man – is a testimony of His Love for us. He’s desiring our good. He doesn’t NEED anything Himself; He’s God! But He urgently Wants us to be Truly Happy, and that can only happen in intimacy with Him.
So, he speaks to us in a million ways, calling us to Himself. These pictures say to me, “See how much I Love You?” He is Pure Spirit, and He asks us to believe Him more than we believe what we see and know. That’s Faith.
There are many people who KNOW that evolution has been SCIENTIFICALLY disproven for several decades. The ones who still believe it are the ones who WANT to believe it, instead of believing God. Those will never be happy until they repent of their foolishness and hard hearts.
Father God is waiting with Great Love to receive anyone and everyone who comes to Him. The Grand Canyon is one of a zillion proofs of this.
You look at a Timex watch and you know that someone made it. You look at an office building and you know someone designed it. I have never seen God, but I have seen what “He” has made. You see mankind, all the animals the insects, the plants, the sky, the ocean and the harmony within all of them. The Grand Canyon from space is just a big long crater with a river. From our perspective living here on Earth the Grand Canyon makes us realize how wonderful this Earth is. “GRAND” is not a big enough word… Who made God?..? Can our minds GRASP eternity? No doubt some things on earth have “evolved”.. but I think the chicken came before there were any chicken eggs…When one sees the majesty of the Grand Canyon, it is but a very small thing compared to the One who created it, the One who is worthy to be praised. The Bible says that the Angels in heaven rejoiced when God created the Heavens and Earth. We get to see a little of why.
I’m excited to know you also have a close relationship with God and our Saviour.
Keep shining your Light onto others, spreading seeds, watering them, or when needed, doing the harvest.
The Grand Canyon is breath taking and am glad to know that others are mentioning God, even though they have only heard of Him.
I will pray fot them to get to know Him and His son, Jesus.
God Bless You and may you have a Happier New Year.
I do not know how anyone who has visited the Grand Canyon can say there is no god
You are so right Terra. God created the universe believe it or not. The choice is up to the individual.
Well Said Terra! All things possible through our Lord God – The Grand Canyon, and the process it took to form, as well as the many majestic things on and around our planet! Anything and everything that man can comprehend is just a fraction of our Gods Divine power!
Someone simply states the obvious and you think he’s not much of a person. Reassess your love. It seems designed only for those who tow the line. Awesome canyone but there are numerous awesome canyons. I think the Grand is overrated.
obviously you have never been there
Carol is right…obviously you have never been there. I have been to many awesome canyons in my world and America travels, and there are so many beautiful natural sites, but the Grand Canyon is beyond beautiful, and by far is the most beautiful canyon I have ever seen. When you approach it, it takes your breath away. It is not overrated. These are probably some of the most beautiful pictures that I’ve seen of it, but no pictures come close to what you see when you see it in person.
I agree it is overrated. Canyonlands, Arches, Capital Reef, Bryce, and Zion are much prettier and much more accessable for hiking, and in the first three, 4-wheeling.
Does he not make it rain, wind blow, is he not nature…and maker of all..
I never grow tired of seeing this Canyon each time I see something that I missed in my previous visit. If you do not believe this is created by God your life has to be so empty. OVERRATED is certainly not something I see when I take my friends that visit Las Vegas. I have never heard anyone describe this beauty as overrated. You must be on happy smoke.
Jimmy D., if you want to see what overratted really looks like … simply take a look in the mirror. Now there’s a picture of “OVERRATTED” … and then some.
I do belive in God. Non believers be tolerant of those who believe in God. Believers be tolerant
of those who do not believe in God. Is there ever a doubt. Sure there is, either way.
As a beleiver I can only Pray to God. If you are a non beleiver, you can do what you choose. Either
way there is no doubt that the Grand Canyon is beautiful. Just to be on the safe side, I choose to believe How can I go wrong? Comments invited.
I agree that the Grand Canyon is indeed grand. But I used to work at Canyon de Chelly on the Navajo Reservation. Most of the people that came to see that canyon liked it better than the Grand Canyon. If you haven’t seen it, it is worth the trip. It is different to see and much more accessible.
I’m a native of Arizona, and have been blessed to have traveled all over the West. Are any of our National Parks “overrated”? I don’t believe so. Each one has its own unique beauty. I do know this, I have hiked and explored the Grand Canyon many times and each visit is new to me. Have you ever watched the sun rise over the Canyon on a brisk morning? The colors of the Canyon change minute by minute as the sun rises. Have you seen a rainstorm travel over its majestic rocks, changing their colors as the storm moves? Have you ever seen the Canyon rocks peek through a storm cloud? Have you ever seen snow clinging to the Canyon walls and rocks? If you can’t find the astounding beauty in this Canyon, what really evokes beauty to you? What a shame that some find this “overrated”.
Lisa, beautiful words about God. Please note: God is NOT nature. God created nature. Think about it again. Your God is too small.
Jim you think yourself above the laws of man, faith and God…I feel for you, because you are part of the lost bunch that think they control things on this earth….big surprise is instore for you…seek, ask and you WILL find!! You are correct; those that do not find the truth and true way will not make it….I suggest you try, for the end is near, in so many ways…do you not read, see the news and know that everything is changing? I am sad that there are so many that have taken on the dark side and accept evil as okay and the ones that seek the light are the strange ones. God places the light of knowledge in those that seek Him and the truth: Seek it~or you will always be int he dark tha tyou are in!
Jimmy D ~ the correct phrase is “toe the line,” a reference to the start of a foot race, where each runner must keep toes on the line or be disqualified.
Most people disagree with you on the Grand Canyon. Would you be willing to name the other “grand” canyons you’re referring to?
You know…share the beauty?
I agree!
If you’ve never been there, you have no way of comparing..
it is as beautiful and more so than described by anyone!
I could not have said it better Mike, thank you, Amen!
Yes, these are great pics, and the scenery is special, but if you want to see a real big beautiful canyon, go to Mexico’s Copper Canyon….
Can we not just enjoy the pictures instead of getting into all this religious garbage?
Grief!
Will you American fruitcakes just STOP your lunacy!
The biggest problem with our planet is nuts like you lot with “Faith” and “Belief”.
It might as well be fairies at the bottom of the garden or ants rule the Earth.
With such “beliefs” wee end up with “the only way is God – MY god – not YOUR god”.
We end up with “let’s nuke the non-believers”.
Then “Let’s get our retaliation in first.”
“An eye for an eye.”
Extremist points of view which generate distrust, hatred and ultimately killing and war.
We’ve enough problems with man’s innate qualities of greed, and the need to dominate and control
without confusing it with nutty religions.
And let’s NOT bring evolution into it.
It’s patently taken AT LEAST 14 billion years and several great extinctions to evolve into what we are – sentient animals with a remarkable capacity to think, a hard-wired facility for language and an ability to communicate.
That is in itself an immensely extraordinary thing.
If you want to believe it was all done in 4-5,000 years – fine. You’re a fruitcake.
But you can still NOT believe that and STILL believe that God created it all.
It’s NOT dependent on evolution.
If your science takes you only as far as the Big Bang event then just go on and believe your “god” triggered the Bang and all that sprang from it. And keep that thought as your provisional explanation. But even then please don’t ossify that thought. Humankind will progress, learn more and explain even more than that. Maybe not this year, decade or millennium. But eventually we will.
As the frontiers of knowledge roll on we’ll know more, though probably not ever everything.
So if you can’t cope with life without the crutch of a god-belief you will still be able to (sadly) go on believing that “god created it”.
But don’t get stuck on evolution.
It wasn’t long ago everyone believed the world was flat.
I mean just LOOK at it.
Fruitcakes of the world cast off your biblical chains.
Get a life. Understand the world.
Understand people.
Get real.
I am with you on that one. Well said.
Please do not compare Grand Canyon with Mexico’s copper canyon or THE Himalayas. Each one has been bestowed with their own charm and beauty. And DO NOT compare your wife with other woman as it will not be fair.Accept things as they are are and do not colour them with your judgements.
ajay
We wonder why there is no worldwide peace.. I was looking at some amazing pictures only to find at the end these comments. What a let down.. People stating there is no God.. People telling him he is empty because he doesn’t believe. Instead of everyone sharing, people knock the beauty of this canyon because they like others!! MY GOD PEOPLE!! This is horrible! CANT YOU JUST LOOK AT SOME REALLY BEAUTIFUL PICTURES WITHOUT GETTING INTO PICKING ON EACH OTHER. LOOK IN THE MIRROR. YOU ARE ALL JUDGING EACH OTHER. IT’S TIME FOR IT TO STOP! ENJOY WHAT’S IN FRONT OF YOU FOR ONCE!
I am with you on that one, Gary .
Gary, Rica, If you want to just enjoy the pics, how come you are into the ‘religious garbage’ ? The pics can be looked at without reading the comments?
Oy. I live in America and it does take patience to put up with the unscientific mores that pervade this great country. I think much of the rampant superstition and unreasoned reflex may be derived from the early migrations from Europe. Many came here to escape religious prosecution and, once established, they introduced the practice against others — including the heathen natives they nearly exterminated in the name of their imaginary god. Americans, in short, may be plagued by the “religious gene.”
Ironically, their departure from Europe partly cleansed the old continent of its most intransigent faithful, which explains why Europe as a rule does not mix science with religion and politics with gods. Even the Vatican embraces evolution, quantum physics, and paleontology, all of which are, er, anathema to mainstream American religions.
So there you have it, in a primordial nutshell: believers look at the most eloquent evidence of natural forces unguided by divine hand, and instead of drawing factual conclusions they instead turn geology into theology.
Magical thinking is not harmless: it is a pernicious mental distortion of reality and the basis of persecution and denial of truth. One day it will vanish from the Earth.
There may be a god or not. It’s not relavant to us as we are not important in the entirety of existance. In fact as I see it we are probably not much more noticeable to any posssible creator than any other earthly lifeform. And having live long, far and wide I would recommend we stop praying to “GOD” because if he does notice us he likely won’t like us very much because we are not very nice.
WOW!! 🙂 There is a whole lot of “if’s” in your post…
Jesus did say, “IF you seek me, you WILL find me”.
Just don’t give up on seeking until you find. 🙂
It is His promise.
MOBLSAVIOR.COM
Why is it sad if you still believe in GOD ? YOU sir are sad, because you believe what scientists tell you, but have you noticed that most of them don’t agree with each other, Theories, that’s all they come up wit . here is a quote from ALBERT einstine ” THE MORE I STUDY SCIENCE ,THE MORE I BELIEVE IN GOD “. ps. sorry if I spelt einstine wrong.
Spirit created the Trinity.
“God” is very, very, very old, beyond human conception or reconing on any level; evoluion and erosion are all part of Spirit or “God,,,, the Big 3,” as are you and all else. “God” also “threw into the mix,” divine grace, to which you can appeal, if you’re up to it and your “Belief System,” embraces such concepts, to “lend a hand” to those of us who have chosen a mortal experience. If your particular B.S. is keeping you between the fences and headed in a truly “moral” direction, good for you. If and/or when you discover a better B.S, grab onto it and wear it out, in this journey of life, like a pair of shoes, until the next B.S. presents itself. Don’t be afraid to drop the old B.S. or it will tend to retard your progress.
Bye the bye, ALL Belief Systems can be abbreviated, B. S., as Spirit, the Big 3, etc., are beyond human conception. Therefore any B.S. you are able to “dream up,” is way short of the mark, as is mine! Enjoy the beauty around you and give thanks for “free will,” though I don’t think “free will” is all that free. Look around and observe what our fellow huming beings are doing in the name of religion and “free will.” Seems to me that “free will” is VERY EXPENSIVE! -HALEY-
Bernie:
It must be so sad to live such an empty life not believing in a power greater than yourself!!
Did you ever ask yourself…..Who formed the first rock from which this evolved??
Why is it so sad, may I ask??
I can revel in the awesome beauty of the Grand Canyon just the same as you, without the ridiculous notion of ‘a higher power’ having made it’!! What a burden to have to think that you have to carry on under the watchful eye of this being…. What about the real UGLY rock formations in the world? Did God make those too? I wonder why ‘he’ would have done that? Beats the heck out of me.
”who wrote the bible stories?
In God’s Creation you have to accept both beautiful as well as ugly;night as well as Day;Pleasure as well as pain ;man as well as woman; cold as well as heat; and all the pairs of opposites.Hindu scripture Bhagawad Gita says that the person who can endure all the pairs of opposites with equanimity and sameness without biasing is a realised saint.
To Bernie:
And whom do you think created Nature????????????
Amen!!!
I also have been to the Grand Canyon……
Good one. I agree and I agree that there is a God and that nature created this awesome canyon but Bernie you should have known when you put a statement out there like that this is the kind of feedback you would get. Maybe you dont believe in God and are wicken or something I dont know but you asked for it.
There are many places of beauty…the grand Canyon is one of the 7 Wonders of the World! While there are other places that are pretty, there is the magesty of the Canyon that is not found anywhere else, as it belongs to this place….other places have their own reason, awe and specialness….I am proud we have the Grand Canyon here in AZ, it is so beautiful. God has blessed us all with so much and those that miss His grace and the love that is given in your heart when He is there, is a tragedy……He has been around a very long time and more than enough time for everyone to have understanding of faith, Jesus, God and the spirit that lives inside, when you believe! It is there for all to have..He loves everyone and there is not some secret that makes us any more special than anyone else, except that to know Him is the greatest thing you will EVER do……and going to the Grand Canyon, as well as other wonderful places, will only expand that insight and knowledge of all that He has given this world. How can such beautiful pictures, the magesty of God and such a wonderful place envoke anything but peace, thanksgiving and appeciation of the the greatest nation in the world? People…it is time to be strong in all things of America, most of all our founding of faith in God and our nation!!!!!
I can honestly say I have never seen an ugly rock formation. I love to look at all of Gods creations.. I would not want to live as though there is no God and die and find out I was wrong.
The Grand Canyon was the first thing we went to see when we moved here in Az.in 1979. It was absolutely AWESOME! I was AWESTRUCK. First words out of my mouth was OH MY GOD! Grand is to small a word for it. There were mules carrying people and their baggage down to the bottom on the most narrow trails you ever saw. People also would hike down there and camp out (because it took so long to get there and then back). Legs would kill for days. One of the seven wonders of the world.Magnifico!!!
That would be “too” small a word –
Hey Mike, We can go on your premise that God didn’t create the Grand Canyon just for arguments sake, but, who do you suppose gave you the eyeballs to see it??? Sorry for you buddy but will pray for you 🙂
I loved your answer~
Mike’s parent’s gave him his eyeballs.
good one, Mike,,,I dont think any of us are missing anything either. yes it was nature but who created Nature????
It is better to believe in the existence of a Supernatural Power and you can call it by any name say” GOD”.Human beings are not capable of creating the likes of GRAND CANYON and many other marvels of nature and human beings cannot prevent earthquakes;Tsunamis and natural disasters.
According to Indian Spiritual BOOK Bhagawad Geeta ” GOD comes into existence through its own MAYA or powers and IT BEING the HIGHEST ;IT does not need any other agency for its own creation .IT is indestructible and eternal and nothing can DEStroy the Superconsciousness of GOD. Mankind has a perishable body and and survives through progeny and offsprings in succession.
Even The Earth;Sun and the Universe has a finite Lifespan which runs into million of years and hence it is not comprehended by us.THE Universe will disintegrate after millions of years and the CREAtion will again start from the beginning.
Ajay
How in this world can anyone not believe in our God in Heaven when seeing scenes such as the Grand Canyon and so many other places in our wonderful world.
Wow Bernie, you’re sure scaring a lot of believers. Keep it up. I’m tired of being the lone voice
of scepticism.
Mike I so agree with you. How any one can think that God did not have a hand in forming this whole Earth is beyond me. I see and feel Him every where.
Throughout this litany I keep hearing about HIM. My curiousity makes me wonder if their male god has a penis? Nobody ever mentions it…
The question is:
Who, or maybe what, IS God?
Is it a spirit just like you and I are?
Is it some sort of bigger spirit?
Is it a man sitting on a throne in the sky?
Is it a HE?
How could it be the Father of a Man named Jesus?
Could it be a concept instead of being a spirit or being?
Is it possible it is the product of all of us somehow together? Could it be the personification of the idea of nature? Could it simply be us at our best?
Does anyone know really?
Does the Bible speak figuratively at all or is it all meant to be entirely literally interpreted?
Was there any context to the data in it? I mean was any of it aimed at a specific time and place or is it to be taken as though every word is about every time and place? For example (chosen arbitrarily), did St. Paul say things because he felt they would go over well in Rome at that time, or was he meaning for it to be applied to the Japanese in our time, where their life circumstances and situations as groups or individuals are so very different from those in St. Paul’s time?
Do the questions I ask above matter?
These pictures are pictures of God’s creation. How can anyone not look at this and say it is not from God
Why hasn’t god made a godess for himself?
I wonder how many NUTS living in US ! From the church to university ? What they learn there ? Now I know, why the Americans going into shit !
Yea,and how do you know what God can do and can’t do? Sorry about your Sister, Kathleen.
Bernie, You are all wet, There is a GOD. Without him, we wouldn’t have these wonders. God made Heaven and earth and all the beautiful world wonders we so much injoy. He provided nature to mold these wonders.
There is also a HEAVEN. If you don’t believe, maybe you should read the book, ‘HEAVEN IS FOR REAL”,
By Todd Burpo
I read the book. What an inspiration and profound feeling it gave me. It just reaffirms my love and belief in God. I am so fortunate to have Jesus in my life. When I feel that someone is hurting for whatever their sorrow may be, I give them a gift of the book.
If Bernie chooses not to accept religion, then that’s his choice. Remember, not all of us will be going to heaven.
As for the Grand Canyon, it is absolutely beautiful. There are those who don’t agree, but I wonder what your idea of beauty is because nature is so perfect – look at a flower, the feathers on a bird, etc., – can you copy it and make it look as perfect?
Bernie, they all attack you. they don’t love us, the atheists. but it’s ok. i’m with you…
Hahaha they all go to hell then
Soooooo, you guys believe in hell, but not in GOD ? ? ? interesting…..Truth is, we pray for you ! We hope one day you will have eyes to see the GLORY OF GOD AND HIS SON JESUS CHRIST ! ! ! Have you ever heard the story of DOUBTING THOMAS ? ? He became the best believer of all when his eyes were open. I pray for you.
Hey, Bernie. What I’d like to know is who put nature in motion?
Bernie, When you see the Grand Canyon you know God had his wonderful hand in it. How can you not see that.
Mike…that’s not a very christian thing to say. doesn’t the bible say something about loving your neighbor. I also recall something about forgiveness etc.
Seriously, Bernie
what is wrong with you whether you believe or not you don’t have to be nasty.I do believe in God and nature also. But God Had a hand in this.
But Bernie have you forgotten that nature is God……
Yes, God is Nature, thus Nature is God.
What once was an ocean is now a canyon.
Don’t be surprised if the ocean we know today becomes the next Grand Canyon.
namaste
God is the eternally existant ONE. The canyons were formed by the great flood, and no man can make it rain 40 days and nights. LOL
Bernie, or anyone else, can you begin to explain why the universe is 14 BILLION years old and earth is 4.4 BILLION yars old. Do you suppose there is a supreme being somwhere and what did HE OR She do for all this time? Do u suppose there are many life forms out there? Why is it there??
to b j marshall ..where did you get the numbers ?seem to be very confident
A friend of mine sent me the pictures and they brought back some many memories, I just had to reply.
Helen
ahahaha it’s called radiometric dating, look it up. It’s widely accepted by the scientific community. It’s also why we know dinosaurs are x many years old, unless you’re the type that believes dinosaurs were made up, or lived in the time of humans.
Time means nothing to God, as time is only a human’s notion of our Creator. All of our natural universe is but a happenstance to our God’s sense of humor, so far beyond any mortal’s depth of intelligence
Boy, everyone knows what god thinks. This is hilarious.
B.J. To the Lord, a thousand years is but a day. The Lord can do anything. That includes making a universe that is 14 billion years old to man. Afterall, we make some gadget to tell us what we want to know. How anyone can look upon such beauty and not believe in the Almighty God, is beyond me. Having served in our Armed Forces, I have seen men die who did not believe until the last moment. Never fear, it isn’t too late for you… “YET.” The Grand Canyon is a magnificient work of God. Just enjoy it. I have been there and I saw God everywhere I looked. God Bless.
So the whole seven days thing is really 7 thousand years? thanks for disproving the bible.
Btw the Colorado River is Dam controlled now so man is responsible for some of this beauty, nature not influenced any mental apparition of power as the church would have you believe in fear, is reponsible for everything above the lowest rim. Open your mind before even trying to open your eyes.
Also before you bash me for not being there I have rafted 255 miles of the Colorado.
I Am A Believer And Thanking The Almighty God For my faith!
Praise God, what a great comment. May our Father bless you and yours.
P.S. Thank you.
Dennis, I myself have not been to the Grand Canyon but would love to go some day. Thank you so much for your service in protecting (what I see on here with the pathetic comments) my personal right to the freedom of religious beliefs. I personally believe in god but I choose to keep my relationship with him private. And to all of you that don’t believe in a higher power, I feel so sorry that you have not accepted that higher power in your life. I pray that you do………………It’s such a comforting feeling!
Dennis,
You are so right. The first time I saw it with my husband, daughter and family I just cried. You could feel God there. My husband passed away 2 years ago and I know he is looking down at the wonderful sites of our earth. What a nice feeling it gives you.
Bernie, I thought Mother Nature was part of God. He/She had His/Her hand in everything on this great earth.
Mother nature can’t do any thing with out Father God!
you people make me so sick! always pushing your beliefs on others and judge them for not believing. I have nothing against your God by the way but I have everything against your kind of people who have to drag him into everything. Our earth is millions, billions years old. God didn’t create anything, he didn’t make anything. It is evolution and it is part of the Universe. If there is a God, it is called UNIVERSE. Get a life and stop throwing your God around whenever people enjoy beauty for what it is: beauty. Have you ever thought about the fact that most wars are and were about religion? Always people of one religion wanting to push it upon others. It is downright revolting.
Hi Bernie:
I have read with interest all the comments about the Grand Canyon. It is beautiful? This song written by Stuart Hine in 1899 says it all:
Oh Lord my God! when I in awsome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolloing thunder,
Thy power throu-out the universe displayed.
When through the woods and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze.
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Bernie: My prayer is that someday your eyes will be opened, and you will cry out to the Lord for mercy and He will give you abundant life. You have never known happiness, joy and peace until you come to know Him, who to know, is life everlasting. Bernie, just suppose there is a God, and that He send His only begotten son Jesus to earth to live, die, be buried and rise from the dead and ascended back to Heaven as the Bible says. Just suppose this is true? Is it worth the gamble? Think about it.
In 1899, man had not flown, movies could not talk, nuclear power was unknown, and the internet we rely on everyday had never even been comprehended. When the work of fiction we call the bible was written, so many now explainable phenomena seemed “spiritual”. Now we know that lightning is caused by electrical discharge between water particles in the air, fire is a chemical reaction, and the members of a species with the most desireable, surviveable traits survive while the slower, weaker, less intelligent perish. I do not commit murder or steal from others not because a higher power dictates it, but because it is wrong. On a final note, how can you say that your God is the true god, but everyone that devotes their lives to Buddah, Allah or the many other “gods” out there is completely wrong. Seems a little elitist to me, and I believe your god would frown upon that, no? By the way, I consider myself to be agnostic, so I am open to any and all ideas/criticism.
I have been reading all of the replys on God and the Canyon. While I realize that everybody does not believe in God, I find it strange that, with all the beauty of this world, they don’t believe in God. He is everywhere and if you just look, you can “see” him in all. In relationship to all the “bad” things that are done, remember, God has given us the right to choose right or wrong. He does not keep control. I agree with everything Lore says and her song is and always has been one of my favorite.
Lore, that is my favorite song and it says it all. Larry
U should get this comment too. Was orig written for another follower of mythology who thinks faith is something other than harmful and without virtue. It’s not the stuff is bad news you god of gaps dribble bronze age horsesht sry but you all must catch up to the rest of us already. No excuse really..god is myth we die it is heavy but makes LIFE AWESOME wheew Seriously! wooooooooot —- orig msg to last Larry Greere or something like that———The only thing that stinks is the ignorance you swing around blindly with negative energy. It is mind-numbing to me that a rational un-INDOCTRINATED normal higher primate points out the FACT that hundreds of millions of beautiful years and changes brought about the evolution of this wonderful sight and experience and you climb up the ladder of intellect just far enough to empower you to triumphantly puke insults at someone much further a head of you. One who respects reality. One whom can even have a life to respect. Until you question and then rationally evaluate the answers and thus loose the harmful faith(which is NO virtue)I say you have yet to be alive at all… & until you experience the only born again there ever is… born again atheist all you are doing is acquiring the tools to be prepared to know the inside and out the diseased voodoo mythology you find smeared across our lovely ‘Murika and those like you with a deluded understanding of the world and “threats” from the loving people who try to bring you reality. instead of taking the gift you “invoke” fairy tails and god/of_gaps thinking WHILST being so combative. makes for a lugubrious stench. Your sect of christian mythology, no different than the rest… as this stench is common and as widespread as the disease of willful ignorance itself.
Bernie, I pray your heart and eyes are opened before it is to late for you.
Bernie, you contradict your statements, they are one sided. First you don’t believe that God doesn’t exsist but this last statement says: and I quote: I pray your and eyes are opened before it is to late for you. Which is it, that you do believe in Jesus Christ or you don’t believe. Can’t have it both ways. I will pray to God Almighty that you would have the courage to pick up a bible and talk to a Pastor or true believers that have the facts. He has helped me thru more than you could ever imagine. I feel saddened by those who refuse to come to the Lord God and ask for forgiveness. Love to you and all of those individuals that refuse to try.
Regards Sherry and I AM A CHRISTIAN!
Good For your Sherry
Well said,,, The Bible says,,, GOD CREATED THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH, THRU GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE,, and I put it this way, only God could creat such a beautiful earth,,,,
What makes you so sure about that, Bernie? Were you there?
Well, LOL, not to beat a dead horse, but I find it very interesting that folks here are talking Christian… the Bible…. Well, why are you excluding 900 million Hindus?? THEIR God is just as valid to them as the Christian god is to you… But they are totally different gods!!
You folks are ALL atheistic about all the 10’s of thousands of god’s that have ever existed. As the great Biologist and atheist, Professor Dawkins would say. .. “why not take it just one god further’….
This is fun
Sherry….that was Carl that said that ABOUT Bernie..
Do you think that only Christians should be part of the mix in this discussion. I am pretty offended at your small mindedness. It’s fine to believe in your God, but there is something other than Christianity that is worthy and feels the beauty in nature. Your narrow views are akin to the Tea Party.
Okay, now this is getting pathetic.
I agree Jimmy- and then to have Billy Seg say on the 30th of August “Throughout this litany I keep hearing about HIM. My curiousity makes me wonder if their male god has a penis? Nobody ever mentions it…” GOOD GRIEF! Why do folks always have to drag discussions like this through the dirt???
The reason I do believe in God AND specifically in Christ as my Savior is because Satan is working so hard to make me not believe, to bring in an atheist to try to convince me that I’m wrong and to try to discredit all the beauty God offers to us. Now why would Satan be wasting so much time on something that isn’t true in the first place? The way I see it, if I’m wrong and they’re right, nobody has lost anything. But if I’m right and they’re wrong, they and only they have lost absolutely everything.
You mention Satan and Christ and all. From where do you get all this? It can’t be coincidence, as there are 100’s of millions of you out there. i could say, simply, that you have heard all the bible stories and you are simply parroting what you have heard. For some strange reason you cannot make up your own mind about these things..
SATAN?? Come on… p-l-e-a-s-e. All this beaty can, and does, exist without my having to believe in these god’s you are talking about. p-e-o-p-l-e……!!
My dear Husband Geo and I went to the Grand Canyon And rode the mules down We spent the night and how any one can not believe in God and see the beauty he made is really a sad person. I am now 88 years old and the beautiful pictures bring back the memories of the beauty God made for us to enjoy and like you, if I am wrong then it won’t matter ,but if right then I have gained because I have a mansion waiting for me.Beautiful and there is much more beauty God made for us to enjoy.
THAT IS THE WAY I FEEL ALSO. ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS I TOLD THIS TOO, & HE HAD NO ANSWER WHEN I STATED IT TO HIM, HE IS NO LONGER ALIVE, I PRAY HE FOUND THE LORD AND MADE PEACE WITH HIS SAVIOR BEFORE HE DIED.
Ray,
I can look at the beauty of a ford mustang and be in awe. I can deny that it had an intelligent designer. But the truth is …Facts are Facts. A design has a designer. There isn’t anything in this world that appeared from nothing. Evolution is a farce that has no fact based evidence. Give me one PROOF of evolution that has not been dispelled or disproven. The carbon dating system was created by men …men in search of an answer without God in the equation.
Why would you want to believe that there is no God? Dare I say because you want to live life as you see fit …being accountable to yourself and not to a higher power. You most likely believe that when you die there is nothing after that. That makes life pretty simple …live how you want because this is all there is. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (KJV)
God is God …whether you believe it or not!
God created you …whether you believe it or not!
God loves you …whether you believe it or not!
God offers you eternal life …you need to believe it.
“We should take care not to make intellect our god. It has, of course, powerful muscles, but no personality. It cannot lead, it can only serve.” Albert Einstein
I am a Christian with my own ideas instead of following what others have said is how I must believe.
If you believe something that is wrong, then you have been tricked. I do not put attention on the questions you bring up.
Instead of putting attention on God, on Satan, on fighting with agnostics or athiests, I believe one should put attention on creating as much good in life for oneself and others as possible. This is what God wants. To me this is what true prayer is, is what being a real Christian is, is how to follow the example and teachings of Jesus. One gets out there in life and ACTS as one would who believes what Jesus said. He does not debate with non believers. He heals the sick, helps the poor, forgives the sinner, gives food to the hungry. He did not have time for arguing. Neither do we! There is a lot of suffering out there, and people need our real help NOW!
Trying to fight Satan and insisting on God’s existence is wasting time.
Just where do you think this nature of your’s came from?
Having read the comments this far & seeing so many are convinced a ‘Higher Power’ in control of everything it’s no wonder the US is in it’s present financial mess.
Christianity may preach Love but it’s history tells a very different tale.
Must be sad to have no GOD atleast one that is alive and well. You will meet him one day,and hope you are prepared. PFU.
I think GOD had ALOT of something to do with it.
God whispers to me. “Pause here for a moment. I have created this for you to enjoy and so that you will understand. This beauty is for you to enjoy and it is only a hint of the grandeur waiting for you in your future. Believe in me and trust in me. Listen quietly for me to communicate with you. Listen with your heart. Your eyes and your ears are a gift. Your heart is also a gift.
No intervention from God, huh? I’ll bet you’re one of those people who believe you find babies in the cabbage-patch, too.
Cabbage patch? Man, have you ever got that wrong..unless of course storks live in cabbage patches.. (smile)
Yes. The Grand Canyon has a very spiritual aura surrounding it, and I personally believe it is there for us to view, and be reminded of His power. Likewise, I think anyone with some kind of faith/trust/ belief would also feel this presence whether Jewish, Hindu, or Buddhist, et al.
Rob, you said it best and most logical.
Namaste,
Peter
Dear Bernie,
I am apreciaeting your real and update attitude.
The religion is the bigest historichal lies of the word.
The God …the best advertising project.A brand, a monopol brand.2000 years of advertising.
Still in progress.Splendid.
Good management team.Very good…
Good level of communication. For all people the same product…democracy
Goog products..broterhood of peoples premium product..and about the life after …an extraordinary marketing ideea..to sell now something wich never will be….promotion, buy now 2 life after at half price…
A little spelling lesson might help Aurelian…
Yes and she isn’t the only one….ha..ha I was just thinking the same thing….no one seems to care if they are spelling anything right these days.
always judging others aren’t you? Not listening to what one has to say as long as it isn’t what you don’t want to hear. Is that what Christianity is? Who do YOU think you are that you can judge people for what they believe in or not and whether they have their spelling in order or not? GOD?
Those errors look more like typos than spelling. What do you expect when large numbers of the human race are typing with two thumbs. Talk about progress.
I wish to make a point for the “godless” group. If there was no creator of this earth and those that live upon it, where did that first little cell come from? Endless years will not provide that first spark of life for either plant or animal.
Dear Aurelian
I know you are trying to sound astute, unfortunately your spelling and grammar belie that fact. I suggest you go back to at least the third grade!
Give it a break. Stop belittling those who are obviously not native English speakers for the mere purpose of discrediting them because your beliefs differ. I think you’re the one that needs to go back to third grade! Whatever happened to all those lessons of tolerance and compassion that we all learned back then (including those of Sunday School!)?
Hey, I know your english is not great, but this guy makes the exact point. Here is a direct quote (mainly attributed to Seneca the Younger) and see how SOME smart guys knew what religion was about… over 2,000 years ago.
“Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.” There you have it..
Ray, well said.
Take religion away and we are just litle mammiferos trieben in earth…
We can see beauty, with nobody help, we can progress and improve with
our own streng…We do not need to “invent” or “create” a God or a religion.
Read why Jesus chose 12 common men to be his disciples and spread the gospel. “Twelve Ordinary Men” by John MacArthur. Very interesting read.
One thing in you genious’ observations that you have ignorantly or decidedly left out is that religion (in which you have stated correctly is man made) yet salvation that you have missed alltogether is totally and irrevocably of GOD for man!! you clowns keep talking about man made religions no arguement there, IT WAS NEVER HIS WILL FOR MAN TO BE STEEPED IN RELIGION WITH ALL OF IT”S ILL’S BUT IN RELATIONSHIP THROUGH SALVATION!!!
Who do you think controls nature?
Nobody controls nature, nature is uncontrollable. Humans on the other hand are easily controlled by the fear of an blasphemous apparition of power, you believe purely out of fear, “God” will not save anybody, ever, you will die waiting for your blind blessing.
Adam,
You are so wrong. God is most certenly in controll of everything. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ because one day the Holy Spirit showed me I was a sinner in need of the Savior. I’m not a Christian out of fear but out of God’s love for all men. It is not his will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. I hope you come to see this before you meet Him.
Adam: How strange to hear this from someone called ‘Adam’! Where do you think you got that name?
One thing I know, MAN did not create the Grand Canyon. So it must have been GOD! The God of
all nations and all mankind. I denied God for many years and got punished for it. Now that I am
back talking to him I know he answers my prayers. I visited the Grand Canyon when I was 11 years
old and wasn’t smart enough to appreciate it. Now that I am 80 I wish I could go back. These
pictures are so beautiful they take my breath away.
hear hear
By one man (Adam) we were condemned, and by one man (Jesus) we have the hope of salvation and ever-lasting life. Jesus commanded us to love one another as he loved us. So Adam, I love you as a brother in Christ and will pray for your enlightenment before you get first-hand experience in the tribulation to come. And by the way, God created the Heaven and earth and said it was good. These pictures are a testament to that to him to has eyes to see. God bless.
Why “who”?
Why is the alternative not possible to you, and that this earth we know has existed for an incredibly long period in ‘space’ and has developed to what we all see….. Naturally, I might add. Why does the concept that this world and the universe (as we know it) has naturally come about seem to be so distasteful to you?
One minute bit of evidence/proof what-have-you FOR the existence of God would make us non-believers examine what you had to offer….. don’t see anything yet!!
I am a carpenter (also a christian)I make no claim to be a genius, but recently I had to take an OSHA class where we were instructed on numerous hazards to life-one of them being gases-acetylene,propane,fumes from welding, etc.Whats the relevance? we were told to sustain life the oxygen levels need to be beetween 19.5% and 24.5%.what strange power of evolution is it that prevents our planets levels of oxygen drop below the 19.5% ? or exceed the 24.5%. Also I remember a science teacher talking about perihelion and aphelion-the earths closest and farthest points to the sun-and the teacher saying if we were much closer than this,or much farther than this-we would burn up or freeze-from this I can only deduce that evolution is VERY,VERY intelligent
Ray, Try reading the Bible. Gen 1:1 would be a great start for you. Your lack of bibical knowledge is your problem.
Why “who”?
Why is the alternative not possible to you, and that this earth we know has existed for an incredibly long period in ‘space’ and has developed to what we all see….. Naturally, I might add. Why does the concept that this world and the universe (as we know it) has naturally come about seem to be so distasteful to you?

My question to you is have you ever tried to study this issue from the other perspective? I am a Christian but I have also studied other religions or lack there of. According to science, before a theory can be disproven, you must A) Prove your theory to be correct, by citing an abudance of rock solid proof, and B) Prove the competing theory incorrect, by disproving any and all proof they have submitted. As a Christain, I would suggest that we are at an advantage, only in the fact that Evolution is taught in our educational system and Creationism is taught in our church. We have long been studying this from both sides, I would suggest you do the same.
This was not ment to be rude or offensive. If you looked at this argument, from a rational, unbiased, and detached point of view, examining all evidence based on merit and credibility, what would you choose?
This is a reply to Danielle, as she does not seem to have a ‘reply’ word to click onto
Danielle, the ‘other perspective’ being religious study? I don’t have the inclination to study (what–christianity, I assume in your case?) all the 10’s of thousands of god’s that have been worshipped…. Why waste my time? Believing in any God’s existence is all a personal thing. The religion one most likely ‘buys into’ is the one in which (unfortunately) one has been brought up. Parents inexcusably involve their kids with THEIR belief-system, and I think that is wrong.
Your analysis of the scientific process is a little bit skewed off-center. Sure, you take a theory and you test it until you run out of things to test it with. As you do that, more and more evidence comes in and you continue testing. after a while (in the case of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution) 150 years or so. The validity of any theory is NOT invalidated by proving competing theories incorrect. It just invalidates THOSE competing theories. any scientific inquiry has to rest on the merits (or failings) on the theory and it either tanks… or gets accepted as fact after a long period of testing…
Evolution IS taught in our schools because it is a FACT. The word theory, in science and in particular, when it is being discussed in this type of forum, is mis-interpreted. Creationism is NOT 9I repeat.. NOT) taught in schools because it is about as far away from being a scientific theory as one can possibly get!!!!
I don’t find your comments offensive… I’m just trying to get most folks to see that religion is personal…. saying a god actually EXISTS is delusional and worthy of thousands of prodding questions to the speaker….
I would think that the answer to your last question is obvious, so I won’t answer it!!! At least (from the Evolutionist-point-of-view) one HAS evidence that HAS been based on merit and credibility. Wher is YOUR evidence for the existence of any God? And I DON”Y want to hear the tired old arguments and anything what-so-ever to do with metaphysics or philosophy….
Bernie, you must believe that there is a God, because you can see it!
thanks.
Bernie,
Why do you believe the THEORY OF EVOLUTION and not the GOD OF CREATION? To have evolved is much more far fetched than to believe we were created by an all-knowing, all-powerful GOD.
You say Evolution is a fact, support you findings!
My relationship with God is a heart relationship, I accept my human limitations and so does God.
Other gods can be traced back to their roots and to their graves. Christ’s tomb is empty because HE rose from the grave and ascended to His Father in heaven, His Holy Spiirit lives in the heart of those who believe through faith, in Jesus’ atonement for my sin and yours on the Cross of Calvary. One’s acceptance or rejection of Jesus’ gift decides one’s eternal destination. I know where I will spend eternity. The choice is yours
bernie, soooo there must be allah for you.a book that says to kill every one who dosn’t believe in allah.
hmmm the god i know is a loving merciful god.he made all theis beauty around us for us to enjoy.
god has blessed me in so many ways, and when i die, i know where i am going…. do you?
Well, it appears, folks, that we have someone in the audience that does not do their homework.
Considering the BIBLE, as we know it, has the Old and New Testaments as it’s backbone, perhaps Sherry you can tell us what all those human and animal and burnt offerings God demanded were all about? That does not sound too nice to me. Merciful God. A whole lotta ‘smitin’ goin’ on back then. What was that all about?
If you really KNOW what bronze-aged middle-eastern life was like 4,000 years ago (the rough beginnings of the stories that were bounced around for 1,500 years before the Old Testament was written) then you know that human and animal sacrifices were done back then in the name of god’s that were not formalized into any organized religion. The powerful created these religions for control… and so included these mandatory sacrifices as the normal way of things… The Bible …All man-made.. Every story in it… man-made..
Sorry sherry
I hate to disallusion you but Allah and God are one and the same. Christians, Jews and Moslems all believe in God. Christ was a Jew as were all the disciples. Abraham was the founder of all three of the great religions.
Diane – Allah -and God/Christ are NOT the same God in any way, shape, or form. They absolutley are not the same.
The problem I see with the non-believers is that they do not speak from knowledge of the Bible. Several of you have attributed things to the Bible that are simply not in there. But the non-believers don’t know that what they say is foolish, because they have not bothered to educate themselves on the Bible. I think so many non-believers will not read the Bible for ‘fear’ of what they will learn about themselves.
Believers, have educated themselves on what the Bible says and have come to believe in the one true God. Sure there have been many Gods, and the God of the Bible talks about the other Gods. Another point i would like to make is that non-believers are much easier to control than believers becasue believers have a solid foundation on which to place their beliefs. They will not be swayed, convinced, tricked or deluded. Non-believers really don’t have a solid place to go to with their beliefs, so many (most) find it easier to believe in whatever hits them at the moment, be it, “Mother Nature”, Evolution, a brass or stone fat man, a cow, extra-terrestrials, or Satan, or her/himself.
The one thing non-believers have in common is that there are thousands of things to believe in – or not to believe in. No consensus. But Christian (Shrist) believers believe in one thing – That Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died for our sins, was raised back to life and lives at the right hand of God. EVERY SINGLE CHRISTIAN BELIEVES THIS. God says not everyone WILL believe, but everyone has the CHOICE to believe. Also, one more important point, The true God instructs his people to love their enemies as we love ourselves. Not one other god dictates that. I love you all whether you believe or not. But I sure hope – and pray – that many of you will pick up a Bible and learn for yourself what it is about. Don’t rely on someone else to tell you what it says……you have a brain – use it. I NEVER write on these forums, so I feel like there must be someone on the fence ——-is it you? GOD BLESS.
Allah dies not mean God it is the name (like Bob)of a black stone idol that Mohammed’s grandfather brought to his business the Kaaba in Mecca. Ilah means a god. The Qu’ran repeats over and over the instruction to its adherents to ” Kill (fight) until Allah is ilah. It also teaches it’s followers that it is acceptable, even good to lie to fool non Muslims in furtherance of Islam or for any reason they choose. It is called takiya. There is another tenet in Islam called tiseer, it encourages Muslims to assimilate and convert all around them if they can, if not they are to lay in wait until the time that Allah can be ilah in all nations. You have obviously never read the Qu’ran, the Hadith or the Sirah or you would know these things. It is time that all people know what Islam really is. Spreading This benign nonsense about Allah just being another name for God or that Abraham had anything to so with the hateful doctrine that is Islam will end with everyone under fifth century barbaric enslavement and Allah will be ilah.
Deborah and Rainbird,
I like how you two vehemently disagree with what Diane said, but instead of a structured argument explaining your reasons and evidence for disagreement, you both then embark on tirades that don’t really support your point of view and instead just reveal that the two of you are bigots. I’m sorry Deborah, Allah and God are one and the same, and same with the Jewish God.
Rainbird, ilah is indeed the name for a deity or god in Arabic, but perhaps you didn’t notice that Allah is a contraction of al- (meaning “the”) and ilah….. so Allah literally means “the God,” in the same manner that Christians use “God.” And I don’t believe that you’ve actually read both the Bible and the Quran. The Bible is just as violent if not more so than the Quran; IMHO we need to be more scared of those fundamentalist Christians in our own country who use it to further terrible things like white supremacy than Muslims in our own country, who are usually well-to-do, law-abiding citizens.
In case you both were wondering, I was raised a Christian. Went to Sunday School dare I say, religiously. I do find it repulsive when others try the condescending “I hope you will change before you meet your Maker” thing because then it’s obvious that they view the person as inferior, instead of another human being. Nothing the person says can possibly mean much because they are second-class in their eyes. I find that insulting. Religion is and should only be a deeply personal matter so everyone just needs to shut up, be tolerant, and open their minds a little. We just happened to be born Christians, Muslims just happened to be born into Islam, same goes for Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, and non-believers (or came into it on their own). And guess what? We’re all taught to treat others as we would like others to treat us. What’s the big deal?
Ah, and yes, the Grand Canyon is GORGEous. (haha)
Bernie– you’re a nut— no offense— everyone has a right to their own opinion– even stupid ones !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ‘Van’—————
You can tell him that if you ever get the chance!!! Which I doubt you wiil.
Hey, Bernie, It wasn’t just any “god”. Who do you think created nature??? You might not know God but He sure knows you. Would love to see this Grand Canyon sometime. The pics are amazing and beautiful.
Bernie, I have always enjoyed the conversations that follow a comment such as you made. Thank you!
I feel sorry for you. I have felt God in my life. I have had him take over and take me in the right path, just by me saying “I don’t want this way of life anymore”. I know he is real!
Go the the Grand Canyon, walk up to the edge and step off, if you believe, he will save you.
WAIT ONE SECOND, YOU SHALL NOT TEMP OUR LORD GOD.
May my Father God bless you.
I have rafted through the Grand Canyon six times in the twenty years. If you have never done this trip, then you have never seen the Grand Canyon. With out a doubt, the most spectacular place on Mother Earth. Just enjoy the photos and keep religion to your self. Man…that stuff gets really old!
BERNIE….THEN WHY DID YOU CAPITALIZE “GOD”?
LOLOL… Capitalizing ‘God’ makes him real??
AHAHHAAHAHAA
You’re right Bernie….God has nothing to do with nature. Just as He had nothing to do with your creation….You were a selfish act of lust twixt a man and a woman! May God have mercy on your soul.
I agree with Mary 100%. Poooor’ Bernie !!!!! I’ve been there, and it is something truly unbelieveable in all its glory.
Care to learn a bit about evolution? Oh, I forgot, Evolution is just man finding out how God did things…. It’s like a circular argument with a drunk… you can’t win… because ‘God did it”..
Good night all…….
and just how do you think nature was created. God IS nature. Sorry you’re so ignorant about that.
I agree it was formed by nature that GOD made since he made the Universe and you Bernie
On occasion a mistake is made … thus we have Bernie. Go figure.
Great Pics. God love you Bernie. You inspired quite a controversy. From the defensive nature of many of these comments I would say their faith is not as strong as they would have us believe.
I for one believe in God. What you do or do not believe is none of my business. Anyway it doesnt matter.
If their is a God he is all forgiving. Some people haven’t gotten that out of the new testament.
So…nothing to worry about Bernie. You are going to heaven whether you like it or not. However, since Hell is the Planet Earth. God may required you to retake his lessons many times over.
If their is no God it still doesn’t matter. Millions of people get great satisfaction from their faith and it sustains them in their time of need. And if this is the case we should make great fertilizer for the Grand Canyon. We should all be buried there.
Have a blessed day people.
“You are going to Heaven whether you like it or not”???? That is a dumber statement than anything Bernie could come up with!
So, you believe in God, but He has no standards, no rules, only a candy store at the end of the rainbow?
I hope your message is a case of “being ridiculous in order to illustrate the ridiculous”.
Wait a minute… ‘Hell is the planet earth’?? Am I hearing you right?? So, ‘his’ reason for creating the Grand canyon was to….. Umm. not too sure….
The New Testament indicating this God is all forgiving? Have you actually read the thing? I am an atheist and I have read it.
I think they should have come up with a third one.
Ray, Reading the Bible and Applying it, is two different things. Try the following study guide:
1.Observation: Read for meaning
2.Interpratation: Who, What, When, Where, Why, How
3.Applicaction: Apply what you learned
May God bless your lost soul.
To be saved you must: Realive your a sinner, Repent of your Sins, and Ask God to come into your heart.
To Bernie:
Mark my words, one day you will recognize that nothing on Earth “just happened”, and that the ‘nature’ you refer to, is Mother Nature, which is just another reflection upon God who created the Heavens and the Earth. Smirk or gloat as you see fit, but one day you will see.
There would be no “Nature” if it wasn’t for GOD>
Bernie, at first, I was appalled by your remark. But as I read some of the responses, it truly showed what others really are like. Some felt sad for you, some came across as “holier than thou”, some tried to tell you where you are headed. They don’t know where you are headed, they don’t know you. This is not what God would really want of us. You are entitled to your opinion, Maybe, you tried to say a lot in a shortened sentance. Maybe, like us, nature has a mind of it’s own and nature did all this on it’s own. I mean nature causes floods, tsunami’s, tornados, etc. Just like if we do something wrong/bad, did God make us do it? No, he leaves us to our own making. I give you credit for causing so many to come forward and say so much about so little.
Maybe we can do “WEEKEND AT BERNIES 3” with this as a topic!?!
If you believe there is no God, you’d better be right!
I’m sorry that you dont know much about God! 🙁
Excuse me ….. Nature IS God — God IS Nature!
God created the earth, and everything in it. Read your bible. Grand Canyon is
absolutely beautiful.
yo bernie ever read Genesis in the BIBLE it might really open up our eyes i know its a free country and everything but you might wanna try some cause that comment can really offend some christians.
P.S. I’m a christian to and i’m praying God opens up your eyes. 🙂
I’ve been reading the comments inspired by your little remark. How sad your life must be. You obviously don’t believe in anyting that is good or wholesome. It makes me wonder what type of a household you grew up in,,,,or are your opinions closeted by your closed mind. How you can even look at things like a baby, or the beauty of a butterfly and obviously decide that they just appeared with no grace from anyone or anything. Things just don’t appear our of nowhere. Just like the wonder and awe of the Grand Canyon. Kind of makes me glad I don’t know you. You aren’t someone I would choose to have as a friend. And if, in fact, you do have friends, I can’t begin to imagine the conversations that go on when you’re all together. You aren’t all that great, Bernie. You obviusly have an over rated sense of your worth to the human race. The fact that you capatalized the word God, shows that you must have SOME respect for a superior being even though you would like your remark to indicate the opposite. It’s okay to deny the existence of God, Bernie, he can take it.
think you for saying it rgiht
i totally agree! i never realized that there were rivers and waterfalls, so many great aspects , but seems to me, more than a river would have formed this great grand canyon.
BERNIE – – – – – – If you believe rivers formed the Grand Canyon, then you really believe a “Fairy Tale
Please take note that the Grand Canyon starts on the EAST SIDE of the Mountain Range and goes through the mountains and ends on the WEST SIDE of the mountains.
For that to happen, the Colorado River would have to run up hill on the East Side and then down the hill on the West Side….
Not sure if water can do that. I am open for your proof of that unproven fact.
Sounds like a pretty silly theory that the Canyon was created by the Colorado River.
Kindly,
Jim
Bernie, Nature is GOD !!!
After reading all the comments on this page I have realized that I don’t want to be in the same species as these “believers”. Open your mind to nature rather than the fear instilled by religion. Open your mind, your eyes might just follow.
Adam (and to all that keep stating that “believers” only believe because the ‘fear’ has been instilled by religion), do you really feel that is the only reason why we believe? I cannot speak for anyone but myself and please know that I do not fear GOD, I have faith in GOD!
For those who argue about having proof, how does one prove faith any way? What is faith? According to the dictionary, faith is 1.) Confidence or trust in a person or thing, 2) belief that is not based on proof. Believing without the need for proof is what my faith in God means for me. I don’t need any proof because I just know how I feel about God. And yes, it really is that simple.
To the person(s) who posted the beautiful pictures of the Grand Canyon, thank you for sharing.
What an ignorant response! God had everything to do with it. and what a cruel thing to say to someone who has lost a loved one and had such fond memories. Wake up and smell the coffee!
You are arrogant and sick if you don’t believe God was not involved!!!
Boy, You all are slamming Bernie because he doesn’t believe YOUR god made the Grand Canyon? He’s entitled to his opinion which is a scientific fact. He didn’t say anything bad about YOUR god but all you religious people jump all over him because he doesn’t believe the same things as you do? Some of you that answered him rudely must be the hypocrite’s that give religion a bad name. By how you write Bernie, you sound like an educated man. Alot of people are afraid of an educated man, hat’s off to you Bernie for stating an educated response!
bull tweety
Belief in a Supreme Power is still compatible with the knowledge that natural forces formed our planet. But why try to force that belief on everyone, and denigrate those who appreciate the natural world but don’t believe in a Power that rules the Universe ? If there is a God, he must be sad that some minds are too limited to understand how evolution and geological forces formed this world in which we live. That said, pictures are a wonderful incentive to draw people to see this incredible
and spiritual place in person.
I don’t see how they are compatible, Carol.
Since the bible is all about humans being ‘his’ ultimate creation; the whole reason for the existence of the ‘universe’, in fact, It hardly makes sense that this all-powerful being needed 14 billion (?) of our years to end up with an earth… and populate it with humans just in the last 200,000 years or so… Does that make any sense to anyone out there??
And please, no “God works in mysterious ways” responses, If you would be so kind..
RAY……. I am not a High Level Mathematician so I do not understand Quadra Physics or whatever you call.
It is fair to assume, in a Scientific world, that someone understands it, they just are not in this blog right now.
With that said, I can not make a single grain of sand, so I probably can not explain how the Universe was created, and you probably can not explain it either.
With that said I suggest you not concern yourself with what happened 10 minutes before you were concieved since you can not explain what will happen, with any degree of accuracy; what shape this world will be in 10 minutes after you die.
So Ray, go ahead, try to explain these two premises and then tell me what belief brings you to those two time frames beginning and ending.
That is what Faith is Ray.
Your Faith is just as real to you as mine is to me. Which faith would you like to be “IN†11 minutes after your life is ended on this planet made of mud, called Earth?
Kindly,
Jim
How about this: Evolution of consciousness. The people who wrote the books of the Bible were writing from their understanding of the world, politics and religion. With no science to speak of, everything was blamed on unscene forces, good and bad, God and Satan. Story telling styles didn’t necessarily support the same sort of “give us the facts” styles that exist today: people were free to exaggerate to make their point. I could go on but…
The God described in most religions doesn’t work for me but I do have a belief that there is some power/force/energy that is working toward a better expression of humankind…mostly because I feel it and see it in others. Although, reading through these postings, I’m starting to reconsider.
I’d rather live as if there is a God, than to die and find out there isn’t
Than to live as if there isn’t a God and die and find out there IS.
Praying that He’ll open your mind & heart to The TRUTH.
In His awesome love!!!!!!
AMEN TO ANGIE`S COMMENT.
LIFE AFTER DEATH IS FOR REAL. WE WILL SEE THE REAL BEAUTY & PEACE FOR ALL ETERNITY.
I`M READY! PRAYERS TO ALL TO GET READY NOW!!!!
If you had any sense at all, you would realize that nature is everything God, in Heaven created it to be. He said “Let it be” and it was!
lets go the first book of the new testament…do you think that Adam had a belly button?
I never met an atheist in a fighting hole,Bernie, come to think of it a bernie either.
Bernie is a wimp and would never even survive our boot camp. We serve a mighty God, One that can even love this pathetic loser! Lon, USMC
Poor Bernie, what has she/he done to cop for all this pure garbage from you all? It would be laughable if it wasn’t so ridiculous! Wow! it’s unbelievable……
WOW! Now THIS is pathetic…. hahaha. What does the Marine Corps boot camp have anything to do with God??? (the answer should be nothing!)
If heaven is filled with the likes of all you so-called “good” Christians, I don’t want to go there!!
Hey USMC John….. 1.) What does a Atheist get when he dials “Dial A Prayer”? —–NO ANSERW—- 2.) What does a Christian get when he dials “Dial A Prayer”? —-A PRAYER—- 3.) What does a Agnostic get when “HE” dials “Dial A Prayer”? —- Here it comes……. “”A BUSY SIGNAL”” ROFLMAO
I guess you think it just evolved from a crack in the ground. Even if it did, WHO do you think
made the ground dufus?
Just returned from Grand Canyon…AND with awe one looks at the wonder of it all and KNOWS that there is a GOD and that he plays a hand in ALL!! God Bless you.
The thing you called Nature is really God. God created all the universe and everything in it including you.
…How was ‘nature’ formed?
Nature is basically a very large bag of (or books if you may) laws, created by God, (Son of God, Jesus of Nazerath) that must acknowledged and lived by and followed by all concerned. If you do not believe me, just try ignoring any one of them you want, and learn “The Hard Cold Facts Of Life”.
…and you know this because??? Hummmmm…I guess you DON’T know everything after all.
who do you think is in charge of nature?
Get a grip!!!
RICK……..Nature is basically a very large bag of (or books if you may) laws, created by God, (Son of God, Jesus of Nazerath) that must acknowledged and lived by and followed by all concerned. If you do not believe me, just try ignoring any one of them you want, and learn “The Hard Cold Facts Of Lifeâ€.
Kindly,
Jim
It was created by God and only God…”In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth…”
Sadly such a true statement is only going to be laughed at or people will assume you are a bad person. Why is it that people must think a creator had some play in such a magnificent landform??? Enjoy the beauty of the world as it is and don’t give credit to something that doesn’t exist. But hey, the beliefs (of lack there of) of an atheist clearly don’t matter since we are the minority
ALYSSA…… You say God does not exist…. Prove that to me…. I am waiting….
God is Nature. I have not seen anything in nature that is not made and controlled by God.
How do you know God made and created it (don’t cite the bible, it’s not a real reference)? Before you bicker with me about the bible, read it yourself, it supports rape, polygamy, child abuse, as well as many other contradictory evils you so called “christians” overlook while reciting biblical passages.
Let’s hold our tongues. All together now; take a deep breath.
We are exposing our arrogance and that all-knowing attitude based on
the infinitesimal knowledge we think we may have juxtaposed to or
against the vast wonders and beauty of Nature. Little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Peace!! And Merry Christmas to all. If you dont’ believe in Christmas.. that’s fine.
Believe in what makes you happy and at peace with yourself and family and the society.
Why cant people stop picking things apart and just enjoy what you see?
Daune…….. This is the point…… Your parents probably told you to not discuss politics or religion….. Right? Right……!!! Well I got news for you Daune; only those people who are willing to discuss politics and religion will influence politics and religion… I suggest you turn off the Cartoons your watching and get involved in the real world, cuz you live in it, like it or not….. By the way…………OMG means OBAMA MUST GO……
Good LORD James – I agree with Duane in her statement about enjoying what they see….why must you get so personal in your attack????
Bernie,
I am sixty-three years old, born and raised in Arizona, remember my first view of GOD’s wonder and one of our treasures to behold at the age of three. Visited the GC over fifty times in my lifetime and each time was more magnificant than the last. You whatever age you are maybe moron-five must of been dropped on your head as a baby by your surrogate satanic mother who kept you in a cave and fed you via a slingshot. Hey, when you time comes and it will, you’ll be on your knees asking our GOD forgiveness and he will, but I won’t, I wouldn’t even piss on you if you were on fire. Go back into your closet and put on your Nazi uniform or the dress you stole from your sister. You Jackass
Joseph, if you are one of God’s creations you definitely are not one of his more successful efforts. Get a handle on yourself man. You badly need anger management counseling. How embarrassed God must be about the out of control over the top anger you direct at a person you don’t even know.
Joseph, I certainly hope that if you believe that God forgives, you’ll be asking it for yourself.
If you’ve ever seen the natural beauty of nature in any form, anywhere, and have any idea of what your seeing or understanding about it …. how can you doubt the hand of God and his body of work, or that of a superior being in what ever form or Deity you choose to call it.
If you see anything in nature that you can not see the beauty of … it’s by the hand of man, and no one else.
Who do you think made the world and you. The Grand Canyon is one of God’s greatest works and so were you.
Well Bernie, I reckon you didn’t know that nature was created by God. You should know that unless you have been reading the Quaran, the bible of hate.If I spelled it wrong get over it. You will get the idea.
Bull
Bernie think about who created nature. GOD even created you.
Bernie, God made everything including idiots like you…America just gives you the right to speak the dumb stuff you believe!
Pity poor Bernie, no sense of wonder, no sense of the awe of nature. Only the certainty that he is finite and impermanent. Thank God that our country was founded by people with his opposite opinion. But our Founders made provisions for his types as well. ds
Only GOD could make something so awesome as nature.
Kathleen, Thank you for your original comment. So very many scientists agree that there is a guiding force, whether we (as Christians and Jews) call it God, or Buddha, Mother Nature, Great Spirit, etc. Albert Einstein said, “Religion w/o science is lame. Science w/o religion is blind.” And as for further comments about the “quality” of the Grand Canyon, I can only say none of the other mentioned locals are considered one of the natural wonders of the world. And “no 4 wheeling”? Please–wreck the environment and stillness of the beautiful desert w/motorcycles. Not smart.
You’re sadly mistaking! What proof do you have that there isn’t a God?
And who created nature? It is illogical to believe that everything just spontaneously created itself. Someone or something has to be responsible…and that’s God.
how did nature come to exist bernie?
Can’t we all just believe in what we believe in without arguing about it? I don’t believe in a god, but I won’t begrudge you your right to believe in whatever god gives you faith.
I have been to the Grand Canyon and although I didn’t get to see much of it because my husband was in a wheelchair and it was hard for me to push him up and down the hills, however what we saw was breath taking. Now I find these pictures to really show me some of the beauty I missed seeing in person. It is a shame that people who don’t believe in God find it necessary to put down a person who sees the Grand Canyon as a work of God and that the Christians find it necessary to put down the person who doesn’t believe in God and tell him they feel sorry for him. I say to Bernie, “I’m glad you find the beauty as being formed by waters flowing and making this beauty come about and I respect you for your vision, if I see it as a work of God, why can you not respect the way I feel,” Someone went through a lot of trouble to take these pictures and to share them for the rest of us to enjoy…..why not leave it at that and not argue over HOW this BEAUTY came about.
Beg to differ. Oh yes, God had a hand in this…all of this. And my, what awesome beauty. Genesis, Chapter 1.
Wrong. Remember there would be no nature without a GOD!!!
It is good to know that even an athiest can enjoy Gods creations.
Bernie…get a life before it’s too late.
You can believe what you like. but if you are right when we die that’s it, but if I’m right I’ll be in heaven when I die and when you die you’ll be in hell (even if you don’t believe)
How can we with finite minds understand the infinite? Just know that He loves us and is willing to forgive our lack of understanding when we come to Him in faith because He is Love! I sure don’t know much but I do know that Christ was the gift of His love. I praise and thank Him everyday!
WELL THERE IS A GOD AND HE ABSOLUTELY HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE BEAUTY NATURE MAY HAVE FORMED IT BUT GODS HANDS DESIGNED IT AND HE WAS IN CONTROL THE WHOLE TIME.
If you deny that God created this magnificent wonder you don’t have eyes. I have been to the Grand Canyon and it leaves you breathless. Seeing this rugged beauty should make you realize that God did create this. Nothing else could be so wonderful. Why may I ask created Nature?
I don’t know Bernie either but I think his village is missing their idiot
Bernie, so you have corrected, if that is the right interpretation, Ms. Harbour’s assertion regarding G-d. An assertion that she cannot prove, and you cannot disprove. However, I find your post, quite rude.
Bernie needs to respect the beliefs of others, Bernie does not have the final say. Bernie has shown himself to be an Attitude Hostile.
Peace, Love, Dove.
But who is responsible for nature, your legs to carry you and your eyes to see? Not to mention the brain to interpret what you see and tell you how to walk.
Bernie, I bet you don’t believe in Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny either. So Sad.
Where did “Nature” come from? Who’s dirt and water was it? Yes, God probably did not intervene with His “nature” He created all. He Loves you anyway!
That is the most idiotic remark I have ever heard – I pray for you
Bemie, here are the facts:
This is what God thinks of you, God said it, I didn’t!
The fool has said in his heart, There is no God They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalms 14:1.
Who made God? Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
Before the mountains brought forth, or ever thou, hadist formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Psalms 90:1-2.
Bemie, God loves you, Christ suffered and died, paid all your sin dept, and He rose from the grave the third day to give you eternal life in heaven (a place ten thousand time more beautiful than the Grand Canyon) when you die. If you will turn from your sin and ask Jesus to forgive you, and by faith, ask Him to save your soul, to come into your heart and be your Lord and savior. God cannot lie! Titus 1:2. God has said: Whoever calls on the name of the will be saver. Romand 10:9-13.
God bless you, I care!
P.S.If you think I am a nut, please read Luke 16:19-31.
man you sound just like the fool that hath said in his heart “there is no GOD” utterly ridiculous!!!
Yes Bernie, the entire perfect universe was formed accidentally. Obviously you must be a atheist geologist. You are entitled to your believes.
Hey Moron,
For you not to believe in a God, your only deceiving yourself.
How could there not be a God??
All nature extends from him, get a grip.
Thank you Bernie. I agree wholeheartedly.
Wow Bernie. You’re sure scaring a lot of believers. Keep it up.
No intervention from God? It’s very sad that you feel that way. God created nature and he created what you think he didn’t …… think about it and don’t be foolish.
Everything on this earth is a gift from God…including your life…he knew you befor eyou were even born….think, challenge yourself and seek Him…it is the only way to heaven and Him!
what , are you a fricking moron god creared everything even sorry to say assholes like you
Bernie,
And where do you think nature got its’ origins?
You could be very right. God may not have intervened, but He createde what we call nature. Also it is way more than something else. It is absolutely beautiful, especially in person from the bottom or top. Have a very blessed day & may God put someone in your path to witness and minister to you.
Who do you think created nature??
The fool has said in his heart, THERE IS NO GOD
My house can’t run by itself, so, I don’t think the Nature so big, can run by itself. Some kind of Energy has to be there to make sure that things fall where they must.
Bernie, I believe that God made all things, including humans. While God may not have carved out the Grand Canyon on a bright sunny day, God allows things to happen without intervention. I am grateful to have been there twice
When God created man, among other ingredients He included intellect and free will and an unknown duration period. We are free to develop and exercise that intellect or not. We are free to rise or decline to any level we may aspire but we only have a finite amount of time.
Bernie, give credit where credit is due whether it is to a recognized God or to an unknown factor. After you have expired you will be recognized by those you left behind and by God or that unknown factor. How will you fare? Will you be a Grand Canyon?
I think nature is part of GOD
OK, if God didn’t create it and Nature did, please explain who created Nature? And don’t give me the crap that is just appeared out of nowhere!
Jake
I am like the previous person, This could not have happened out of coincidence of nature.I believe this was part of Gods master plan. I do not have the time for people like Bernie or any facsimile of that. How Atheistic. I believe this is one of the most awesome creations in the world.
God is in control. One day you’ll know.
God directed the flow of the water to form the beauty of the rocks.
WHO DO YOU THINK CREATED NATURE? GOD THE CREATOR!!!
God is nature. Yes he did create all things.Including man. Love ya, brother
If you wish to deny the existence of God, simply do a small experiment. Take a watch, and disassemble it to its component parts. Place them all in a paper sack. Shake the sack. When you open the sack if you find a fully assembled watch, you will have disproved the existence of God. On the other hand, if you find only loose parts, you have proved that it takes intelligent design to make a watch, and by analogy a universe. To assume that God has no part in creation requires a colossal ego. You too are one of the creations of that God you deny.
You are sad. Bless your heart.
Thanks Bernie. Part of the 4.5 Billion years of Cosmos.
It certainley is a classic nature site. However GOD is nature
Bernie, Who do you think created ‘nature’?? The natural forces of gravity that carved the canyon and hold the universe together, which came into being at the Big Bang (before which there was no matter, space or time)? C’mon, where did it all come from? Like the song says, “Nothing comes from nothing.” It is to your peril that you remain in denial that there is a Prime Mover; what arrogance! If you dare, read “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Athiest” (Geisler/Turek) and allow your eyes to be opened!!
Bernie – I agree – we as a species try to assign labels & figure everything out. It’s larger than all of us, and no human is authorized as The One Who Knows/Judges any phenomenon: nature OR ourselves!
Let us permit nature to have her way:she understands her business better than we do.
IF ANYONE LOOKS AT ANYTHING OF NATURE AND DOESN,T BELIEVE IN GOD, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIM. i TRULY BELIEVE EVERY STATE AND COUNTRY HAS THEIR OWN BEAUTY. i LIKE TO SEE CROPS GROWING AND GARDENS. GOD MADE IT ALL AND SOME THINGS CANNOT BE SEEN, LIKE THE WIND.
Your an idiot!
BERNIE:
GOD IS THE CREATOR OR THE UNIVERSE AND EVERYTHING THAT IS IN IT, NOTHING WAS MADE THAT WAS NOT MADE BY HIM……
GENESIS SAYS IN THE BEGINNING “GOD” CREATED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH. SO BE IT……… AMEN
I pray for you Bernie. Who do you suppose made nature and every thing you can see and touch??
Jesus is the answer.
Who made Nature then?
I was trying to comment on the one saying that ” The ´Grand Canyon is created by nature without the intervention of any God.” with “So who made Nature?”
But the position of my question is simply stupid. so I am not going with this game anymore.
Enough to say that the pictures are breathtaking. Of course it is different when you see the real thing in person, but the skill of taking good pictures is not everyones beer. I am glad modern technology allows uns to share so quickly and so worldwidely. Some of these scenes you probably will never be able to see in real life.
There are so much beauty of nature in the world – and the world is so small in our solar system.
If people would stop fighting each other, ditators would stop exploiting their people, investimentbankers stop cheating their (smaller)cleints, managers stop closing filial to finance their own pay-raise, insurance salesperson will stop selling bad products with phony beautiful promises etc. and everyone can enjoy nature and what it has to offer, would it not be better?
(If any above mentioned professions felt offended please note that it is intended.) Thank you.
Well Bernie, who do you think created nature. I will certainly pray for you.
there is no nature without God, fool
To think one could experience Gods creation and yet deny him is so sad for you.
So what do you think nature is?
Bernie, The Grand Canyons were formed at the time of the Great Flood when the earth went thru some real churning and changes. Look at the layers that were formed as the earth settled. God was directly involved in that.
HA!!!
Are you sure about that Bernie?
Bernie Who do you propose created nature? The one and only GOD. I am happy you appreciate His work
but I am sad you don’t know Him
Bernie, so where do you think you came from? Somewhere along the way I think you just got lost and have not found your way back to the Lord. You are listening to the evil one (DEVIL). Good Luck and God Bless you. Kathleen, loved the pictures they are breathtaking, and my condolences to you and your family on the loss of your sister, my heart hurts for you. God Bless you and your sons.
how sad you don’t believe!
Bernie, you must be an atheist. God didn’t make atheist so, you don’t exist!
When you see HIS creations and refuse to believe that God’s hand was involved then you
head the list of certified idiots.
Someone was there before nature took over. asshole
I am assuming, Bernie, that you accept the “Big Bang” theory of the creation of the universice which is so admired by many current scientists. As I understand it, it goes something like this: “In the beginning there was nothing. Then, something exploded. The debris is still flying around and has evolved into all that exists. Tell me, Bernie, What exploded? Where did it come from / Who created it?
Bernie you azre one sick puppy. Get smart before its too late. God made every thing dummy. I dare you to read the bible and educate yourself?
Who do you think created nature?
To Bernie and anyone else who choses not to believe in God:
I look around at the natural world, and I see how everything has a purpose, from the smallest insect to the largest mountains. Everything has a reason for being, and everything works together in harmony. Without man’s interferrance, the natural world goes on, everything in it’s place and doing what it is meant to do. The human body is a great example, on a much smaller scale. All the organs and systems have their place and purpose, and it all works together to sustain the whole. The same goes for the entire natural world. I look at all of this cohesion and continuity and KNOW that it was no accident. There is no possible way that this could have happened without a very talented designer orchestrating it all. I am a Christian, who is at least somewhat knowledgeable of the bible. But I don’t need it to tell me there is a God and that this world is 100% created. And for those of you who will argue, “but man made this and man made that” God provided the supplies and the brains to figure out what to do with them.
And to those of you Christians who keep attacking non-Christians, it is God’s will that we love, not hate. Hitting people over the head with your beliefs only turns them away. God says to love your neighbor and to love your enemy. He doesn’t say condemn or judge those who don’t believe. Ever heard the saying “you catch more flies with honey than vinegar”?
It was all created by God. It didn’t just happen.
Nothing is formed without God’s permission. He created the world and all in it.
God bless you.
No God???? Here is what Albert Einstein said to his professor when the question of God came up: It happened when an atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.
‘You’re a Christian, aren’t you, son?’
‘Yes sir,’ the student says.
‘So you believe in God?’
‘Absolutely ‘
‘Is God good?’
‘Sure! God’s good.’
‘Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?’
‘Yes’
‘Are you good or evil?’
‘The Bible says I’m evil.’
The professor grins knowingly. ‘Aha! The Bible! He considers for a moment. ‘Here’s one for you. Let’s say there’s a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?’
‘Yes sir, I would.’
‘So you’re good…!’
‘I wouldn’t say that.’
‘But why not say that? You’d help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn’t.’
The student does not answer, so the professor continues. ‘He doesn’t, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Can you answer that one?’
The student remains silent. ‘No, you can’t, can you?’ the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax. ‘Let’s start again, young fella. Is God good?’
‘Er..yes,’ the student says.
‘Is Satan good?’
The student doesn’t hesitate on this one.. ‘No.’
‘Then where does Satan come from?’
The student falters. ‘From God’
‘That’s right. God made Satan, didn’t he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?’
‘Yes, sir.’
‘Evil’s everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything, correct?’
‘Yes’
‘So who created evil?’ The professor continued, ‘If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.’
Again, the student has no answer. ‘Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?’
The student squirms on his feet. ‘Yes.’
‘So who created them ?’
The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. ‘Who created them?’ There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. ‘Tell me,’ he continues onto another student. ‘Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?’
The student’s voice betrays him and cracks. ‘Yes, professor, I do.’
The old man stops pacing. ‘Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?’
‘No sir. I’ve never seen Him.’
‘Then tell us if you’ve ever heard your Jesus?’
‘No, sir, I have not.’
‘Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?’
‘No, sir, I’m afraid I haven’t.’
‘Yet you still believe in him?’
‘Yes’
‘According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn’t exist… What do you say to that, son?’
‘Nothing,’ the student replies.. ‘I only have my faith.’
‘Yes, faith,’ the professor repeats. ‘And that is the problem science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.’
The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of His own. ‘Professor, is there such thing as heat? ‘
‘ Yes.
‘And is there such a thing as cold?’
‘Yes, son, there’s cold too.’
‘No sir, there isn’t.’
The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain. ‘You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don’t have anything called ‘cold’. We can hit down to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest -458 degrees. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy.. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.’
Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer.
‘What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?’
‘Yes,’ the professor replies without hesitation. ‘What is night if it isn’t darkness?’
‘You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it’s called darkness, isn’t it? That’s the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, darkness isn’t. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?’
The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester. ‘So what point are you making, young man?’
‘Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.’
The professor’s face cannot hide his surprise this time. ‘Flawed? Can you explain how?’
‘You are working on the premise of duality,’ the student explains.. ‘You argue that there is life and then there’s death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure.. Sir, science can’t even explain a thought.’ ‘It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.’ ‘Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?’
‘If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.’
‘Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?’
The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.
‘Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?’
The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided. ‘To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.’ The student looks around the room. ‘Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor’s brain?’ The class breaks out into laughter. ‘Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor’s brain, felt the professor’s brain, touched or smelt the professor’s brain? No one appears to have done so.. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir.’ ‘So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?’
Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. ‘I Guess you’ll have to take them on faith.’
‘Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,’ the student continues. ‘Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?’ Now uncertain, the professor responds, ‘Of course, there is. We see it Everyday. It is in the daily example of man’s inhumanity to man. It is in The multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world.. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.’
To this the student replied, ‘Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God… It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.’
The professor sat down.
If you read it all the way through and had a smile on your face when you finished, mail to your friends and family with the title ‘God vs. Science’
Yes…. The student was Albert Einstein.
Albert Einstein wrote a book titled ‘God vs. Science’ in 1921.
So sorry to see your negative remark. Did you know it takes more faith to believe in evalution than in creation? Scientist have more proof for the creation “theory” than for things to evolve.
When I see what many scientists think took millions of years to lay down by slow, gradual processes of erosion from some source and deposited at the locale of what became the canyon. I wonder why Grand Canyon has a great many horizontal strata that show no sign of erosion from one layer to the next if it took thousands to millions of years for each layer. Yet when one carefully examines each layer there is little or no sign of erosion and then fill in from later deposition. That tells me all the layers were laid down rapidly and continuously. That is how we can suppose the Genesis Flood or some other great catastrophe is responsible for the formation of those strata. The subsequent erosion of the canyon certainly wasn’t caused by the Colorado River. Something far more powerful gouged the canyon and planed off the topography surrounding the canyon.
Wow Bernie – who knew that one sentence would unleash what is to follow? By the way, I am a Christian and I too believe that God exists – and I believe that HE created this as well as all of us 🙂
And to think, I thought I was only going to see pretty pictures when I began here….some of the statements that follow are not so pretty 🙁
I couldn’t agree more. Let’s give Mother Nature some credit rather than a supernatural deity.
It is really too bad when a lost soul makes a comment that GOD was not involved in the making of all of our beautiful landscapes and all of our surrounds. I can only say that I tried it without GOD and I was very sad. All real and lasting joy in life comes from GOD. The USA was founded by free Godly people on Godly principles and that is exactly why the United States of America has been so successful and free for over 200 years. When we lose our Godly principles we will lose our freedom period.
Have a beautiful life.
Hey Bernie- How can you be sure ? Did mother nature tell you? What exactly crashed during the “big Bang” ? Was it your two idiotic brains? I think not- although there are plenty of situations in the world that could be attributed to such a catastrophic collision!!!!
one day you will believe in God how sad it will be for you
John Paul Sartre said something like this, “The basic philosophic question is that something is there rather than that nothing is there.” Schaeffer said, “He is there and He is not silent.” Isn’t there a law of science that says no effect can be greater than its cause? Here are some guideposts to consider, if you so choose: Genesis 1:1; Romans 120; John 14:6. All of us are loved.
Great shots. We camped at the bottom once. Great experience!
Hey Bernie….If God didn’t create it, who/what did? Who created nature?
This nation was founded on a profound belief in “nature and Nature’s God.”
Either everything you see was created by God, or it is the result of a cosmic coincidence/accident.
Are you an accident? Do you ever really listen to your beliefs and try to figure out where they come from?
Today is the day that the lord has made…let us rejoice and be glad in it!
God Bless You!
There are many people who KNOW that evolution has been SCIENTIFICALLY disproven for several decades. The ones who still believe it are the ones who WANT to believe it, instead of believing God.
Bernie,
Formed by NATURE?…..God is nature, without the creator of the Universe, we would not have nature! You see a watch and you know someone had to make it. How much MORE magnificent and awesome is our world and the universe, the human body? You think we came about by a big bang or a speck of matter? If so, who created the speck of matter? Something does NOT come from nothing. You might say, “I can’t see God”? Can you see the wind? No, but you can see the effects of it when the trees move to and fro. We can’t see God in a form, but we see God’s handiwork every day, all around us.
Hey, get it through you brain….GOD IS NATURE!!!!
TELL THAT TO GOD WHEN YOU MEET HIM AT YOUR DEATH.
Bernie; are you getting by on natural stupidity or do you practice a lot?
I feel sorry for her. Only God can do this as he made the heavens and earth. Only one unforgivable sin is to deny God. All Glory to God.
A Psalm of David.>Psalm 14:1> The FOOL hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
It’s really something that you know this for sure. Tell us how you know. Can you prove it? There isn’t a person on this planet that knows what’s really out there in the cosmos unless it’s you. For crying out loud tell us what you know and how you are so sure. Nothing wrong with an opinion but that’s all you have?
Take a look in the mirror and think again.
Nature was formed by God, dear.
Poor Bemie, Think, God made all of nature…! 9/18/32
It is very sad to have you look at that and say there is no creator. There is no good way to prove that it happened by itself, but there is astounding evidence of a worldwide flood, which carved the grand canyon. Just google “evidence for the flood in the Grand Canyon” Do yourself a favor…
The Grand Canyon is truly amazing, thank GOD for creating it, despite what some people think.
GOD bless America Bernie, GOD bless America.!!!!!!
Couldn’t agree more. Clearly all the people giving you greif
Over your comment have been brainwashed by the corrupt cult we call the church. They call for proof that there is no god. Well I want to see proof that there is a god. They can say all they wan that god created the earth but there is way more proof of the big bang that there is of a magical being carving a giant sphere made of rock into a habitable place.
Bernie, It’s sad that you believe the religion of evolution!!! (it is a religion because it takes blind faith to believe that all of life evolved from single-celled organisms!) A single strand of DNA is so complex that one missing or misaligned component, and the DNA is useless, NO LIFE!!! The chances of this occuring by evolution, chance, is one to the fortieth power. That’s forty zeroes!!! (1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000)You have a better chance of finding a winning lottery ticket on the ground every day of your life (the big lotteries) than having evolution be responsible for life. Darwin (evolution’s god) himself said that the complexity of the human eye disproves his theory. The so-called “missing links” that have been “found” have ALL been hoaxes, yet the scientific community continues to preach (not teach since it’s a religion)their theories as if they’re fact. SHAME ON THEM!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the skyscrapers in the cities. You can’t see the architect, but you know there is one because the building is standing there. Did it design itself? Fat chance!!! It took someone who knew what he was doing. That’s so much more true when you look at God’s creation!!!!!!!!! Evolutionists are always saying that life happened by chance. It makes as much sense to say that a clone of a person will appear if they spit on the ground (since spit contains DNA). Yet evolutionists are pretty much saying that’s what happened. They just add billions of years and, VOILA, accidental life! Anyone with any common sense can figure it out. Do your own research. DON’T take the so called scientists’ word. Their agenda is to try to disprove God. Won’t happen, because anyone with any common sense AT ALL knows a complex design has a designer. What’s more complex than a human body??????????
Kathy, appreciated and feel you are right on. On February 3, 1985 I was in church for the first month of attendance in about 20 years and very distinctly saw angels. Had a Christmas Card knowledge of angels and thought they had wings. Only one out of about 6 to 10 had wings. They were ethereal white and floated so don’t need those wings. One on the side of the group was bent and prone seemingly in a prayer position. There was another spirit of a different color and smaller up behind. The praying angel straightened up and the smaller spirit waved his arms in a kind of celebration. I could feel every cell in my body tingling. My interpretation, and I think and feel this obvious, was that the smaller spirit was the spirit me. (How else to say that?) I was ministered to and welcomed into the company of angels. We have it on record that they are created and immortal. I like the suggestion of tenure. They all seemed male in form but both a male equipped or female shaped, everything about the female shape says “baby factory” so possibly, probably male shaped by default. I cannot think of anyway in which angels especially those interfering in human activity fits into the atheist, evolution “established” faith. Laurance
Who do you think created nature?????
Bernie, God forgives you.
And who does this Bernie thinks controls nature?
Sorry Bernie, but there is a God who created this and you. And you will meet Him someday. Why deny.
Psalm 14:1 “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God…” Romans 1:28 “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind…” 2Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
I agree fully. Here is a excerpt from ” God IS Not Great” by Late Christopher Hitchens.
” In 1909 a discovery of immense importance was made in the Canadian Rockies. It is known as the Burgess shale. It is almost like a natural formation and has no magical properties. This limestone quarry came into existence about 570 million years ago. Most of the surviving modern animals have their origins in this grand Cambrian burgeoning. Until 1909 we had to relay upon the evidence mainly of bones and shells, whereas the ” Burgess shale” contains much fossilized ” soft anatomy” Including the contents of digestive system.”
None of the worlds religions or their books have any knowledge of these facts. We created HIM for our fear of Death and HE did not create us.
We humans have more knowledge of our world we live in today, than all of our ancestors had in the past 5 to 7 thousand years.
Where are Jesus’ bones??? 🙂
To Bud Kaye — The answer to your question of where are Jesus’ bones can be found in Luke’s gospel chapter 24. First I’ll say this: The Centurion in charge of the torture squad that crucified Jesus reported to Pontius Pilate that Jesus was dead. Under Roman law it would have been a capital offense to lie about something like that and he would have been crucified himself. Roman guards was put at the tomb to insure no one stole the body and then claim he resurrected from the dead. If they had allowed the body to be taken whether by being bribed or falling asleep on duty the penalty would have been to be set on fire in their armor. Beside, a very large stone blocking the entrance to the tomb would have to be rolled away. It weighed more than 1000 pounds.
We then find in the beginning of Luke chapter 24 Mary Magdalene and several other woman going to the tomb to put more spices on Jesus’ body. In another gospel we find out Mary is wondering how the stone will be rolled away. When the women arrive at the tomb, they find the stone rolled away and Jesus body gone but the wrappings He was buried in were still there. Also found inside the tomb are 2 angels who tell the woman Jesus is no longer dead but resurrected back to life. Remembering Jesus was beaten and nailed to a cross meant there would have been a lot of blood. If He was only alive in the tomb, He would have dehydrated (and died) in three days and never been able to perfectly take off the burial wrappings. If the body was stolen, they would have just grabbed Him and ran off. When the Jews buried a body they wrapped a cloth called a napkin around the chin and head to prevent the lower jaw from rolling away when the flesh came off the bones. It was folded and left at the head of where Jesus had been laying. A thief surely wouldn’t have taken the time to fold it. Jesus folded it himself as a sign to whoever opened the tomb and understood Jewish custom. Here’s why; When you were at a gathering like a party and you wanted to leave the party, you balled up your napkin and put it on the floor as a sign to the servant you were leaving. If you were just going away to talk to someone or maybe go the bathroom, you folded the napkin and placed it on the table as a sign to the servant you were coming back. Jesus was telling everyone then and now, that He was coming back.
Now to answer your question. In Luke Chapter 24 the apostles and several of the believers, including Jesus mother, were in what is known today as the upper room. Then the following took place:
Luke 24
36 And as they thus spoke, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and BONES, as ye see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet.
Jesus’ bones were resurrected with the rest of his body, everything except the blood which He shed on the cross, as the Bible says, to pay the penalty we owed for our sins so we wouldn’t have to.
Beautifully said!! 🙂 After reading some of these posts/replies on here a couple months ago, I had the idea of asking unbelievers, “Where are His bones?”.
I figure the non-believers, (“yet”), should come up with some answers where they think His bones are, and post them here. Or on my site I made to Honor Jesus! 🙂
Also another subject… One human has one soul right? How many humans have there been since the beginning of Mankind?
Meaning, there can only be that number of souls, and that number of souls will be cut-down after the second coming to only the “believing” souls, right? VERY SAD!! 🙁
So there won’t be all that many souls (relatively speaking) occupying Heaven, right? 3-5 Billion?
(Just thinking out loud) 🙂
P.S.
Seems as if you and I will see each other in Heaven! 🙂
Worshiping Jesus forever! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Peace to you in Jesus.
Bud…..
Bud,
I too look forward to seeing all of my brothers and sisters (spirit of adoption–Romans chapter 8) in Heaven. Imagine seeing Jesus as He is because we’ll be like Him… (1st John 3). I’ve heard it said that hope is the future expectation of something good, and of course Jesus is our hope.
I lost my wife of 26 years five years ago and I’ve watched and felt God healing me and it has been a blessing beyond imagining to someone who does not know our Lord. The Holy Spirit spoke something interesting to my heart; rather than thinking she is one day farther away in the past, each day I’m one day closer to seeing her again in Heaven. I realize there is no marriage or being given in marriage in Heaven, but it brings me a great deal of peace to know she is with God waiting for the rest of us to join all who have gone before us.
My main spiritual gifts are exhortation and encouragement with a little teaching. After Sue died, I asked God in earnest prayer what it was that He would have me do with my life, for Him, now that my focus no longer had to be on caring for Sue. He told me to study His word and write about it and send it to others. He found a way to use the gifts He gave me plus grow our relationship, and grow my Biblical knowledge (Jesus is on every page of the Bible). He also chose an interesting way to do it because before this I disliked writing quite a bit. And while I’m not really that good, I’ve come to enjoy it and look forward to the Spirit moving me to write about something. He does the writing really. I’d love to check out your site and send along what I write (usually a couple times a month or so).
The Bible is very clear that God knows us before we are even in the womb and while we are in the womb. John the Baptist leaped when pregnant Mary walked into the room, He Loved Jacob and hated Esau in the womb, David spoke to this as well. As far as how many people or souls as you put it will be in heaven let me share this passage with you:
Matthew 19
13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
We find this written about in Mark and Luke with something Jesus said added to it:
Luke 18
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
There are at least 2 things being said here. The first thing is that we need to be like children in that we are to a certain extent be without guile and believing without reservation. As we age we learn the lies and deceptions of our advisory and his minions but little children not so much early on.
Now the second point. If we are a person at conception, and we are, (refer back to my comment in the paragraph where I mention Jacob and Esau) then we have a soul at that point. Remember, God already knew us by then. Many children have been miscarried or lost at childbirth throughout human history. Plus many have died at a very young age and don’t forget the many millions of aborted babies there have been. The Bible tells us that God is love and would His nature allow someone who couldn’t make a decision to blaspheme the Holy Spirit and mean it in their heart to suffer condemnation ? I believe Jesus was hinting to us that we will see those precious children in Heaven. So truly, of such is the kingdom of Heaven. Mathematically, you could make an argument there will be more children in Heaven when we get there than “adults.” Is it true ? Who knows. There is so much we don’t know yet, but today we are one day closer to witnessing it for ourselves. Praise God.
Michael
No physical evidence at all has ever been found to support the existence of a person called Jesus of Nazareth, only heresay.
You are evil and destined to hell
Only an Ignorant Atheist would talk such foolishness!!!!!! You probably support Dictator Odumbo too!
Bernie, Who do you think created Mother Nature?
It is amazing that you attribute beauty to nature and not to God.
Where did nature come from? Our almighty created it.. not man but
our God.
True.
By the response to your simply comment it seems that there are a lot of people that just do not understand the concept of natural progression and selection. The Grand Canyon is easily explained by the informed and is no mystery at all. It’s magnificence as experienced by we simple humans is a result of both knowledge and ignorance. The scale as it relates to us what is impressive. There is no need to bring fantasy characters into the picture.
BERNIE GO AWAY!!!
Not just ANY GOD, the ONLY GOD. You forgot one thing, GOD controls nature.
I agree, Mother Nature is the best.
Saying that God did not create Grand Canyon is like saying ‘the indicate workings of a wrist watch had no creator’. There are, of course, many gods; however, there is one true god, that is validated by recorded history; so much so, that every skeptic I know of, who has attempted to disprove the bible, has become a believer, himself. I challenge you to try this exercise yourself; and see if Jesus is who he said he was. He has never asked of us anything that is not in our best interest. …Bob
I agree with the notion that it was created by nature without any intervention from God. We hiked along Bright Angel Trail, had our Kayak down the river, slept at the bottom with skunk and scorpions, marveled at the beauty of it all the way and have our wonderful slides which we can view whenever we like. We flew over the canyon in a Cessna to get back to where our car was and appreciated what we saw all the more after hiking it.
All these replies about nature and the Colorado river carving the Grand Canyon just amazes me. Two things, first who do you people thing Created what we call Nature? It was God, the creator of all things including us human beings.
Second, if the Colorado River carved the Grand Canyon, then tell me why the Mighty Mississippi has not carved anything! The Mississippi river makes the Colorado river look look like a spring flowing out of a rock….. Try as you will and believe what you want, but Almighty God created everything and the Grand Canyon was carved but the great world wide flood, when God destroyed all mankind because of his wickedness. All but Noah and his family on the Ark, a total of 8 persons.
Ever try to explain where Nature came from?
Where did Nature come from?
Well, God created the Heavens and Earth and everything therein, so God created what we now call Nature….
Hi Bernie. Your idea of “what” or “God” is may need modification. You are as much a part of “It” as the Canyon you admire.
And who designed Nature?
bull shit Bernie.
the world isn’t flat and we didn’t crawl out of some pond skum
Bernie, you know “squat”.
Sorry to notice you’re totally blind, dear!
Bernie, I’m with you. And as for what Rhonda said, to me it should have first applied to Kathleen, and if she hadn’t cited the imaginary being she did as being the creator of the Grand Canyon there would have been no reason for you to call out her fiction. I am so sick of religious people foisting their beliefs on us, but let us mention our belief and the get all upset. Of course, it is hard to defend something which is indefensible. As they tried to indoctrinate me as a child with “You just have to believe!” Of course, that is all they can say because it is just something you have to believe. There is no rationale for there being a god as imagined by Christians. Hang in there Bernie, you are not alone.
So, what is nature if it is not our God?
I know God to be. I know his creation to be created. I know which to turn to with my praise and worship and petitions and sorrows.
You cried at the beauty? God, what a loser!!
Get out much?
pathetic lost soul
I TAKE IT YOU DO NOT GET OUT MUCH!! THERE ARE SUCH PLACES ALL OVER THAT ARE OF SUCH BEAUTY AND MAKE ONES HEART GLAD AND SOUL APPRECIATE ALL THE GIFTS GOD HAS GIVEN US!! SORRY YOUR HEART IS SO SHUT OFF AND DULL….THE GRAND CANYON IS AMGNIFICENT AND WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY SHOULD YOU GET THERE!!!
The beauty, scope and scale of the universe is totally awe-inspiring and if you spend any time looking at the Hubble photographs of the universe you can only conclude that, although one might call whatever raison d’etre resulted in this universe it is the height of egotism to believe that it was created by a god that watches our every move and motive here in this speck of dust we call earth. We are as insignificant as a bacteria.
And for those who might wonder, I have no only been to the Grand Canyon I hiked all the way down the Bright Angel trail to the river, spent two nights there and hiked back out. And then on a separate trip went to the South Rim and hiked down to Indian camp. It is spectacular. But your Christian god had nothing to do with it.
I am sorry you feel that way. It is not my place to judge you nor to make rude or unkind remarks about your belief but I do hope that some day you have the opportunity to get to know God before Judgement Day. He is a God of love. He loves you even if you don’t believe in Him or love Him. With or without Him have a positive attitude and enjoy the things He created whether you believe He did or not.
To Joan, your god of love blinds children by an insect boring through their eye, he kills innocent children with cancer and other even more painful diseases, he lets tens of millions of people live in poverty, many on the verge of starvation. Yet his is all-powerful and aware of even the swallow, right? so why does he make these things happen. These are innocent people, they haven’t wronged him and are too young and innocent for it to be something they are supposed to even comprehend. Where is the love?
I am very content knowing that when I die I will decompose and the elements that make up my being will rejoin the other raw materials of the universe and get recycled in one way or another. The I, Me, will no longer exist.
Apparently you don’t know Him either
God Jack you are the loser, please!!!!!
The first time I went to the Grand Canyon I came to the edge. I saw the vastness and the depth and I felt myself drop to my knees. I said to myself “This Is God” Every thought I had of controlling my life and any control of the world was released. How in this mighty landscape can I think that I was in charge of my life.
Who am I? Just this same beauty. You and I, we are all created by this Master of all. Let us make this world of ours a better place. Look who created this and you and I. No one nor anything can stand in our way. Let’s take care of these magnifcent gifts.
Uh…so who created God?
SAD SO SAD
From where, when, and how did matter originate.
That is where it starts, (The alfa & Omega,(the beginning and the end)
When you are confronted with a delema or being told you have a short time to live, You will go to your knees and ask God for help. You won’t be worried who created God, you will be comforted to know him!!
Bernie: Did you know that atheism is a non-prophet organization?
Allan,
Comments are great but you know you have reached an end
when punster has arrived.
atheism may be a non profit organization…But they have their day to celebrate every year… known as “APRIL FOOL’S DAY “
Way to go John!! How true.
I have been to the Grand Canyon two time when I was quite young; in the 60’s, with my father, sister, and brother. We always had a great time. My father is a Western, Southwestern, Civil War, and American Indian Historian. We have camped all over the Western United States in Bational Park System campsites. It’s a wonderful place to take children to.
On the surface of it, the forces which made the canyon are evident. God’s work is most evident in the consciousness which allows us to see it’s beauty. And there is more going on here. To look out over miles, walk ten feet along a path, and have the scene change completely — lighting, shapes, shadows – it’s a lesson I took home and am still pondering.
“God’s work is most evident in the consciousness which allows us to see it’s beauty.” Finally, someone has found the words to express the importance of God’s gift in the creation of the Grand Canyon! Thank you, Alan.
By the way, poor Bernie made a simple statement with no malice, and although I don’t agree with him, I’m not offended. I’m more offended by Ray, and I think HE’S the one with a problem!
The pictures are awesome. Whether you believe in a supreme being or not, something made the canyon special along with a lot of other places around the earth. Those who have had a chance to see any of the wonders and share it with those of us who haven’t — we appreciate your taking the time to share it with us.
Its too bad we can’t share the love instead of the bitterness of todays society.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures.
Nature has made a lot of beautiful things around the world and perhaps nobody denies that. Let’s appreciate this beauty all over the world for the time being. Now who created this nature — evolution, some would say. Who created evolution — Big Bang, who created Big Bang, Aparently there is no clear answer. Now if you believe in Almighty, a creator, a God, then the problem is easier to answer. God, the creator, has created nature and the Laws of Nature and that make it easy to understand. If we avoid the debate wether Jesus was God or Son of God, we can just believe in a creator who, as a supreme being, designed the whole scheme of things and allowed it to operate as per His design, then things do not get complicated and we can have peace on earth. Wether you call the creator Jesus, God, Allah, it is perhaps less important and the world would be a more peaceful place to live in. God is the creator — call Him anything as you like, Allah, Jesus, Yehweh, Bhogwan and so on and so forth, keep it within yourself. If you are morally strong, spiritually convincing, your children will follow you — most probably. May God give us peace and prosperity and remove sufferings of the oppressed and the poor.
SChoudhury
Have been there twice and I have to agree with everything you say about the canyon. Absolutely the most awesome sight ever and it is even better the second time. hope someday we can make the trip again.
I have been to the Grand Canyon, and I too believe God waved his magical hands and created such a beautiful thing in 6 days. Yeah right. That’s such bullshit. I can’t believe so many of you idiots think that that is how the world began. There are many wonderful people and places on this planet, and don’t see how you can give credit to some imaginary old man when all of this has so clearly come into existence on its own.
I guess you also agree that you came into existence on your own!! Explaine why the earth is located just the right distence from the Sun to recieve the proper effects needed to sustain life on earth and it stays that same distance through the seasons. Majic?? I think not.
THERE IS A GOD AND I AGREE WITH YOU I WAS THERE AND THERE ARE NOT ANY WORDS TO EXPLAIN HOW BEAUTIFUL
THIS IS, JUST THINK OF WHAT HEAVEN IS!!!!!!!!!
I want to thank whom ever posted these great pictures, I have had the pleasure of seeing the Grand Canyon a few times in my life, not enough to get tired of it by any means. Take the time to enjoy the pictures and hopefully see it in person and make up your own mind about where it came from and when it came to be.
As I read all of the replies below I wonder why we must get tangled up in issues like God versus Nature. Why can’t we just marvel at what is and stop the angry comments about how it got here. My husband and I and 5 other friends have just returned from a week white water rafting the entire canyon and each day we were struck by the beauty and the variety one finds in the canyon. We were thankful to be there and no questions about how it came to be.
This incredible creation of God ALWAYS takes my breath away. Thank you photographer(s) for taking the time and energy to get all this amazing shots of one of God’s most WONDERFUL creations!
Hallo Kathleen
We were there also in june 2009, my wife and me and 2 good friends. Seeing the Grand Canyon was one of my wishes to see before i die and at the moment i was sitting on the border of the abyss i did feel such a silence inside my body; a kind of upper happynes and the same time a kind of crying. It is very difficult to explain this feeling but i guess you will understand me. I walked already on the Great Wall in China (one of my wishes) and the next what i want to see are the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Kind regards.
Peter from
Amstelveen – Netherlands.
Ben there 4 times and if ever there was a god it is there in all his golory
Kathleen, You took the words right out of my mouth !! Only GOD could create such beauty !!
Sorry about the loss of your sister.
Arguing about God is not the point of this website. You are ruining the beauty and peace
of the site.
Amen Sharona, this website is not for arguing, it is to enjoy all the beauty!
Beautiful place. I hope to see the Grand Canyon this year.
The “Texas sharpshooter fallacy” is alive and well on this page of comments I see….lol
I HAVE SEEN THE GRAND CANYON MANY MANY TIMES AND IT IS STILL BEAUTIFUL AND I DO THANK GOD FOR THE EARTH AND THE BEAUTY HE CREATED. ANOTHER BEAUTY IS THE PAINTED DESERT, BRYANS HEAD CANYON IN UTAH, BRICE CANYON AND BIG ROICK CANDY MT.BERNIE NEEDS TO SEE THE REAL BEAUTY AND GIVE THANKS.
I totally agree. Made me feel the same way! The splendour and beauty of it all is breathtaking.
I’ve never been to the cannon’s,which is very beautiful from the photo’s i’ve seen…The very same God that created the beauty in upstate New York, HE created out earth in six days, and rested on the seventh… whew 🙂
There are those who see beautiful things and immediately remember god. What’s then harm? nothing.
and there are those who after seeing something great, just remember to show their negative and poisonous attitude. They harm themselves and they harm mankind, and the whole society. These are pat of the 1%, and their brains are occupied with all that’s bad.
Ms. Harbour Was it ‘god’ who caused 9/11?! GOD is an atheist////
LOL, Everyone is missing the point here, its NOT about Bernie OR what he believes, WHO CARES! IT IS about how beautiful the Grand Canyon is! The amazing pictures that people have shared with us so we might see things we might never lay our eyes upon. I don’t know why people are even addressing him? We do not have to prove or try to convince anyone that there is a God. That is the Lord’s job. 2nd Corinthians 4:3-4 “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the gods of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” Ignore his lack of intelligence, your just adding fuel to the fire. If that’s what he believes, let him, we can only pray for him and hope he doesn’t do as his name suggests … “burn-ing”. (I couldn’t help myself, we do have a sense of humor also, hehehe)
No matterr how many times we go to, or see pictures of the beautiful Grand Canyon Am amazed that God created it all. I’ve been twice. It’s awsome.
Just reading this now and seeing these pictures and I totally agree on this and many, many other things in nature, not even half as magnificent at the Grand Canyon but amazing (at least to me) that there IS a GOD. Others can think ‘what they will’ but that’s my opinion and I’m happy with it.
Geologists say that one inch (25.4mm) of erosion is 1000 years of the Colorado River eating away at the rock. If a God created this and it is the same God of the bible, the Grand Canyon would be like 6 inches deep.
How gorgeous, I just want to go there on my next vacation with my husband and children. Thanks 🙂

Overlook his errors Jenna.. Be happy for him that he even questions God. It shows us that he’s thinking about Him, anyhow.
I used to have spiritual beliefs until I opened my eyes and saw things as they really are. If u really believe in a loving benevolent god , download. ” letters from the earth” by mark twain. (free PDF). read the first 100 pages or so. ” Thou shall not kill”. , then god orders the massacre of 5000 innocent men and women. COME ON ! Read it, I dare you
Great idea, Sis… If I drop off my 3 brats can they tag along? I think they could use some God.
Once you have a relationship with Jesus there’s no doubting God. Faith is the key that opens the door of understanding and insight. He’s real. It’s easier for me to believe in a Master mind, God, than any other theory. Like an ant trying to figure out how humans can engineer the Golden Gate or Lions Gate bridge. We are small potatoes compared to the One who created us and the world. He must love beauty, humor, color, and relationships, love is His main thing.
Amen Dottie!!
If there was ever a perfectly appropriate application of the word AWESOME, it would certainly be to describe God’s Masterpiece, THE GRAND CANYON! And don’t we also thrill at the orchestration of The Grand Canyon Suite?!
Best way to see the Grand Canyon is to fly thru it with one of the tour operators.
I have to agree with you, but I suggest you also take along a heliocopter jus’ in case.
NO NO NO take the raft!!!!!!!!!!
don’t agree. The over-flights by helicopters and planes ruin the peaceful, grand silence of the canyon. The absolute best way to experience the Canyon is on a raft trip. I’ve been to the South Rim (way too many visitors) the North Rim, (hard to reach, hence very peaceful), and 3 rafting ventures. Rafting is unbelievable. No comparison. Make your plans now.
My husband and I would like to take a whitewater rafting trip down the Grand Canyon for our 10 year anniversary. I am in the process of researching companies. Do you have any suggestions?
Karrie,I have been down the entire length of the canyon 11 times, all with outdoors unlimited.
If you like oarrafts or especially paddlerafts,I highly recomend them.I’m hoping to book a
trip for next year myself soon.
Try as we might we as humans haven’t ruined this magical place yet!!
just breathtaking
I live in northern california, the sacramento area.I’ve never been to the grand canyon in my 53 yrs. I want to thank those people who took the time to take the pictures im so lucky to seen. Also,to the person who sent them to my friend who sent them to me.Thank you all, very, very much. Now i must go to see the grand canyon. The name suits it.It is grand, and i bet to see it with one’s own eye’s.It is even Grander.Windell Stephens,4/14/2011 at 8:17 pm.
I hope you got to see it, Windell…
It’s beautiful grand Canyons; these are the first time I and my family saw these. I admire the create of Gods. I want to thank these groups nature rocks had contributed them to all people around the World.
It is breathetaking beautiful. I will be taking a trip with my kids and mom she is 72 years old. Thank you to all that had pictures in this e-mail.
Absolutely beautiful pictures! I have never been but after seeing those pics, it makes me want to go for sure!!!!! Great job of picture taking and beautiful subject matter for sure!!
I just want to say that your Havasu Falls Picture at the end is the icing on the cake for this series of pictures you assembled on the Grand Canyon. Now my desktop looks better than ever!
Been there; done that, but it is always a new adventure whenever I see the majesty of the Grand Canyon. A river rafting trip is a must to fully understand and appreciate the power of “the” Canyon.
Great photo collection!
Thank you for the wonderful trip. only other time i went to the canyon was with all 8 kids under the age of 12. I spent most of the time with eyes closed and holding my breath. Glad i got to see it in such beautiful pictures.
It is so beautiful. I was there in the 60’s, 80’s and 2000 time frames. It has changed alot
since the 60’s. Can’t always get to the edge of the cliffs like back then. Still need to do a river raft trip and “donkey-down” to the Bright Angels Camp and stay awhile! Great pictures by some great camera artist – people with an eye for beauty!! Let’s hope we don’t smog this place up too much!! Visit Page, AZ, just north and east a bit; before the Utah border.
Ben there many times and still the splendor is so great that it takes my breath away. I could go a thousand times and see new.
How Great is OUR GOD, Sing with me, How Great is OUR GOD, and all will see, How Great, HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Considering that the paleontology on display in the Grand Canyon completely vindicates Darwinian evolution, and considering the indisputable fact that the Canyon was carved very slowly by random forces over millions of years, it’s kind of amusing that humans can’t see what’s staring them in the face if it conflicts with their comfortable dogmas. It’s perfectly possible for beauty to exist without an intelligent agency behind it.
Oh–and try getting stuck 2,000 feet down in the Canyon without adequate water and then see how inspired you feel.
to canuck .how did it happen? did the river just slowly ate its way down?
Maybe Canuck jus’ got lazy, and the river slowly etched it’s Darwinian way deeper into the canyon and he nearly died for a cool sip, ya’ think?
Apparently, you have never studied geology beyond what your ‘teachers’ taught you. Darwinian theory has been refuted time and time again. But that doesn’t hit the news, does it? Much of what is ‘dogma’ to evolutionists can be easily refuted by true science.
Get a grip on what you don’t know, and visit http://www.answersingenesis.org. If you are open to anything other than what has been pounded in your head for so many years, you may be surprised by what is real and what is imagined. Many scientists believe in God, and with great personal risk to their jobs and reputations.
And if you go to the Grand Canyon, and decide to go 2000 feet down, you’d better be prepared for emergencies.
good on you rachel,
kind’a like camping.. be sure to take fresh water with ya>> and maybe a tent ,blankets/food, and first aid bandages… so you’ll be comfie>> when ya get stranded…
i don’t think i would attempt the grand canyon. with out a guide..or at least stay close enough not to get lost.just when you think you have everything, you useually don’t.just when things go so smoth>> one twisted ankle or a snake bit>> there ya are 2,000 feet down and no wood for a fire…ya just don’t wanna fool with mother nature, thank god for her…..
The universe is moving toward disorganization (2nd Law of Thermodynamics). The Grand Canyon is anything but that. See also the Mount Saint Helen’s Grand Canyon that was formed after the eruption in only 3 weeks, including “fossils” that were half live tree and half petrified.
well, Well, inspired words from a fellow Canuck!!
You are absolutely right Canuck,It has existed very well without YOU, the only non intelligent agency On this web site. Is there any reason people like you have to put a damper on what other people enjoy? Get over it. You MUST be a democrat.
Hi Peggy ,Is ” our God ” your God ?
Everybody’s God …or the Native Peoples God ? You know the ones we stole the land from !!! And for the record I am not a ” Native Person “
Hey Cliff, if you feel so sorry for the indians we stole the land from, please find an indian and give him your house and land, if you have one. That should even things up even a little bit.
Amen, Peggy. Been there 3 times and could go 300 more. It is Sooooooo awesome. And soooooo God-made.
I’d love to go but I’m stuck. I can’t seem to leave Florida and the Atlantic Ocean. She changes every second. Anywhere you go on Gods Creation you can marvel or ?????????
It Isn’t
Please state your proof. That is all.
Oh PLEASE…. I sincerely hope you are pulling our legs.
Peggy: Thanks a lot! You had to post it — just as we had gotten through what seemed like hudreds of posts from every one who has an opinion about religion. Just getting back into reading comments without all the arguements and you had to pop in. Why can’t we all just enjoy the beauty of things without these useless remarks. It is awesome, beautiful & breathtaking—-don’t need to know how it got there.
My wife and I thurotghly enjoyed the train ride out to The Grand Canyon. The ride itself was okay. However, the stories traded with the coachman made the ride more enjoyable.
The cars had been purchased from SP after they were retired from commuter service between Santa Clare County and San Francisco. My wifes dad used the commuter service for many years from San Carlos to San Francisco. We could have very well been sitting in one of the seats he used five days a week.
What a bit of history. The world can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming…until you start trading names with this same coachman. Come to find out, he was from San Carlos and names began to be traded back and forth. Okay, now the world seems to be whittled down and put into a smaller perspective.
Even better, when we reached the Grand Canyon…it took our breath away. Absolutely beautiful.
My wife and I visited the Grand Canyon in 1954. 22 years old. Now both 83. But excellent memories of the Canyon. We tented nearby, but the trip down to the bottom was denied, as I was too tall and too heavy. I’m still too heavy, but healthy. Our BIO’s are all typed out for the newspapers, when the final day comes. We just don’t want to rush it. So very happy that the Canyon was preserved as a National Park. Good thinking.
Though your math skills are apparently somewhat diminished these days…
Idiot!
MATHMAN! GIVE PEOPLE A BREAK YOU ARE SO IGNORANT TO PICK ON THE ELDERLY SHARING A NICE STORY..YOU SCREEN NAME IS VERY STUPID BY THE WAY. YOU WANT PEOPLE TO THINK YOU ARE A MASTER OF MATH???? WOW.. HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT .. NO SOCIAL SKILLS YOU MORON!
Come on math-man give Mr.& Mrs.Johnson a break, what’s 4 years among friends,
Some day you might be that old and make a boo-boo like that,i sorry i forgot that you are the
Math Mannnnnnnnn.
GOD help us, between math-man, Bernie & Shirley the GOD & people haters.
These pictures are awesome and since we hiked down into the Canyon on May 25th, 2010. This was for our 50th wedding Anniversary and we spent the night at the Phantom Ranch. God really created a masterpeace when he created the Grand Canyon. I would recomment anyone that likes to hike, hike the anyon if you are able. Great, Great pictures.
I’m with Bernie
The Grand Canyon is a spiritual experience. If you leave there still feeling like it’s beauty (and life on earth) was created by a huge accident, and that matter was developed from nothing into something all by itself-and not by intelligent design, well then, I suggest you read Dr. Lee Stroebel’s book “The Case For a Creator”. Stroebel was an atheist scientist who came to believe in God through knowledge of science. He interviews top scientific experts in many fields and the evidence for God will surprise you.
Here we go again!!!
There are so many holes in his book, ‘Case for a Creator’ That I could write a book about it.. Well, i DID… but not a direct rebuttal… In any case, He even states in his book, in his chapter on Doubts about Darwinism’, that “man evolved from Monkeys”!!!!! I mean, can you believe this guy???
Learn a bit about Darwinian Evolution BEFORE you torpedo your own boat… then do it… as you have done….
Mary, I am basically a simpleton. I never professed to be super intelligent. I love for problems to be reduced to their lowest common denominator – then I can begin to grasp possible solutions. If you and Bernie can explain the “mocking bird” and the “hummingbird” to me, then I will consider your theorums.
May I suggest The God Delusion by Richard Dalkins. I think it will answer your question and many others.
Mary you and Bernie deserve each other
GOD help us.
Absolutely Georgeous!!!! Thanks for sharing
I definitely want to go now…after viewing these pictures. It looks so amazing. It takes more faith to believe there is not a God, especially after seeing something like this. He made it for all of us to behold His greatness and love for man; that includes you, Bernie.
How can you look at these pictures (that do absolutely no justice)
& say that there isn’t a God. You will burn in hell, i’m satisfied 😀
to jmiza …and you are just telling the truth in love…
Why would you say you would be satisfied someone would burn in hell if you belive in God? God is all about love and forgiving. We pray for those who do not know the love of God and His forgiveness. I think that is one of the most unknowing God statement I have ever heard. How can you say such an ugly comment to such beauty. He died so no one would not go to his loving arms after life here.
great-great comments above. I only have seen some of the canyon flying to Las Vegas, I would love to see it all in person…but I wouldn’t be going on the “expansion” in picture #34…I know I couldn’t take it!! Bernie, have a heart, get a life, smell the coffee, smell the roses…who else but GOD could do this?? Folks were very hard on you, but you know…I hope, you can see why!!
I have been to the Grand Canyon with my husband Marvin and uncle Delmar.I say How great thou art. Only God could create some this awesome. It 3was a great pleasure to see it. Every american should see it.
The sky walk is made out of glass so you can see down under your feet (NOT FOR ME. We have been to the canyon, its so unreal its like walking into a dream world. You see that and you know that God is real.
(Apoc.15:3)
If anyone cares this appears to be in Romanian.
Translation as follows:
They played the song of Moses the servant of God and the Lamb weighed. And said: “Great and marvelous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are thy ways, O King of nations! (Apoc.15: 3)
complements of Google.
AMEN to that Brother Stan, AMEN to that.
Try to be an American. Nobody gives a crap that you can write in a foreign language, or even speak in one. You are probably on the “gubmint dole” anyway.
Oh yes, because Americans ONLY speak English. What the hell’s wrong with you? Have you no appreciation for anything other than what you’re exposed to in your own little life? How UN-American! You should be ashamed.
And in all likelihood, you’re on the government dole, too, you just don’t know it! So shut up about things you don’t know anything about.
It’s an awesome site. I’ve been there several times through out my life and being a rational human i never once had to make up some song ‘n dance, mumbo jumbo quakery, replete with invisible supermacho powers on how this incredible canyon was carved. We all know that Erosion is caused by Satan.
We went down the Grand Canyon by raft in 1988. We went with about a dozens friends. Wed night we meet with one of the couples that made the trip and we were reminiscing over the pictures that we took. Pictures cannot do the Canyon justice, it has to be seen. A new vista around every bend and curve. The Canyon walls tell the story of the making of the Canyon. Rock walls split open to have other molten rock flow into the split and be captured forever. Canyon walls split by upheavals and shifted hundreds of feet only to locked in their new position forever. The sights and sounds of a lazy creek that is transformed by a distant thunderstorm into a raging torrent thrashing and crashing its way to the river only to be returned to being a lazy creek in an hour. In the evening, as you rest your tired body, the darkness moves up the Canyon wall pulling the shade of darkness over you and you try to stay awake to catch sight of the falling stars. It has to be seen to really be appreciated. Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints.
I have been up and down the canyon and it’s tributaries and never get bored. I live in Kanab so I enjoy the northern parts of the canyon including Tuweep and Kanab Point and Parrisswampus Point and places the average tourist doesn’t have time to visit. That goodness I am old and can enjoy them all and see merit in all the geological arguments that exist. Enjoyed your pictures
Steve Stacey
PS look at the Toroweep/Tuweep and Kanab Point pictures for a real eye opener!!!
Science/geology determined the ages – it is a little more scientific and counting the Begats in the Bible and multiplying by 20!!!! H.P. has plenty of time – we mortals are the ones in a rush to find the other site – maybe pass through the Sipapu to the other side and be happy ever after – not the the mortal with sailoritus!!!!!!
Steve Stacey
God loves His creation, and it includes us , human beings too, even if we do not recognize Him as our God or creator. He died for you and for me. And he uses the bad for good because He is love!!! Love is a person…
Grand Canyon…. a masterpiece! Lead by a person through Nature!
Was there in ’68 with our 4 children. This made recollection of fond memories gratifying. Three (3) children now married, and one a confirmed bachelor, and the love of my life went to be with our creator.
But I recall man standing beside me – – from Texas he was. When asked what he thought of the spectacl, “He dryly commented that if it were in Texas, they would have filled it in by now.”
Woman beside him was complainig about her dry lips. Ranger suggested not to lick them as it accelerates the drying and cracking of the lips. Then TEXAS (man) suggested to do as they do in Texas. Woman asked of his remedy? Grab some donkey poo on your fingers, wipe it on your lips – and you won’t be licking them thare lips anymore!
Such humor.
I had the pleasure of living and working at the Grand Canyon for 8 years. It is truly breathtaking. The pictures are beautiful, but must see in person to really appreceiate the awe of natures bounty. I have flown over the canyon many times when working for one of the helicopter scenic flight companys and its so awesome every time. I also got to ride a mule down the trail to Phantom Ranch. What a pleasure to have been a part of it all. I miss the Grand Canyon so much, I hope to some day be able to afford to take my children there. It’s a place I absolutely recommend one to see. I had an idea of what it looked like, but when I first walked up to the rim WOW!!!!!!!!!!
And YES God is included in this bounty by the way………….
Having heard my Dad say (in about 1943 Grand Junction, Colorado) “those crazy Reed boys are gonna kill themselves making a rowboat ride down the Grand Canyon”; getting a Christmas gift from my loving wife for a boat trip down the Canyon in 1986 (enjoying the perfect stargazing nights while in the “sack” and the fabulous trip during the day); and studying the various religious views in these last few years of retirement; I can only say:
The Grand Canyon is much too GRAND to be lectured to by the hole-in-the-sand Christians, or anyone else, as to its origin or any other reference to how it was created. Let’s all just enjoy it while we are still on this good old 4.5 or so billion-year old Earth. Whether or not we take the scientific or religious view is completely irrelevant!!
Hear hear! Well said, sir.
Check out the facts on Mount Saint Helen’s and the life cycle of the Sun.
Well, I agree that we should all revel in the beauty that is the Grand Canyon, among other places on our planet, but I don’t think the view is completely irrelevant.
The world would be a completely different one if there really WAS a God. A God that controlled us.. telling us how to behave and what to think. What to eat and on what day. Who we should be attracted to.. the list goes on and on. Thankfully (figure-of-speech) we all are here on this earth, and I, for one, can enjoy all the fruits of this earth WITHOUT believing someone else had (or has, heaven forbid) anything to do with it’s ‘creation’.
To see what wasn’t seen from 37,000 feet is awesome. I though seeing the Grand Canyon from that height was a wonderful sight but to see these pictures is to know what I missed. Would love to see it from much lower and maybe even from the ground.
Whatever about God painting this, it looks like someone with Photoshop gave some of these shots a little help.
Amazing, isn’t it? And it’s for real, go see for yourself if you don’t believe me.
From those of us who are believers, God has another name, Creator. I wonder if Bernie will believe when her day comes to meet Him. The Grand Canyon in all its splendor will pale when compared to the Kingdom of God.
At the tender age of 74, I decided it was time to start my bucket list. A group of eight of us assaulted the Canyon with high expectations and were still overwhelmed with its majesty. Whether you believe in a God or not (I do), one cannot question the fact that a higher power had a hand in this magnificent gift. The spiritual feelings were palpable and ran the gamut of emotions. My only regret is that we hadn’t taken this trip when we were younger and could explore more deeply. The Grand Canyon is an elixer to be savored. May 1, 2011
“WOW!!!”
to jo bangean I don’t know where b.j. got them, but you can read them in the book, “Bang! The Complete History of the Universe”
Yes indeed, the Grand Canyon is truly awesome. According to Christian believers, this must be the work of our Creator. By the same reasoning, that same Creator must be responsibile for the stacked corpses of innocent women and children in the infamous (and truly awesome) World War II Nazi extermination camps at Dachau, Auschwitz, and Bergen-Belsen. What was the reason for His handiwork here? Why didn’t He stop the Nazis?
Ray
Good comments Ray !! Also the many wars through out history and diseases !!
All these comments about GOD makes me wonder what GOD ?? There have been thousands of “GODS” throughout history !!
Also a couple of comments to the effect that ” he died for you and me ” I thought Jesus was the one that was supposed to have done that !!!! Not GOD. So is GOD dead ????
Grand Canyon was God’s creation. Stacks of corpses were man’s creation.
Uhhh, that’s another Ray. so from now on Ill post with ray2, so as not to be confused….. with… the other Ray, lol
Bernie just remember anything and everything of beauty GOD has his hands in the creation. He moves in ways we will never understand. His beauty last forever.
I have been on one commercial river trip (1979) and three private trips (1988, 1998, 1999) with another probable trip this fall. You’ve never seen the canyon until you’ve seen it from the bottom looking up.
I’m in the process of scanning all of my photos from film (before there were digital cameras). It’s a monumental task. I’m on the 1998 trip now. All the others are done but need to be culled. I’ll be posting them to Photobucket and if I remember will post the link here.
Explain how the river can run up hill to cut through this great rock. The river enters at about 3000 feet and exits at about 2000 feet and has a 5000 foot hill in the middle of the canyon. Last I looked, water can only run downhill.
With the Hand and other Body Parts of God in play, water can definately flow uphill. And pigs can fly.
Bernie is right on. The Grand Canyon is magnificent; no doubt about it. But God was invented by man; accept it and get used to it. Natural forces create great beauty in many places. There is nothing whatsoever mystical about it – other, of course, than the question of what caused the great bang which started it all. Within a couple of lifetimes, I expect someone will figure this out, but even when they do, many will continue to argue the mystical reasons and the existence of a supernatural being called God, Allah and many other names depending upon the culture in which they were born instead of coming to grips with reality. Of course, now that Osama bin Laden has been brought to ‘justice’, this will probably not include as many of the religious ‘crazies’ as it might have just two days ago. Grow up people and face the reality of life and existence and the unknown, and quit trying to make the unknown known so you can reduce your irrational anxieties.
Check out the after affects of the Mount Saint Helen’s eruption. You might be surprised. How is there justice if there is no standard, no ultimate truth?
I’m not as old as some, but I have been to the canyon many times 50’s, 60’s 70’s& 8o’s, have slept near the rim for a week, have been there with Mom,& Dad wife& oldest child, other family and at no time did I ever see the same sights from the same spots. While laying on my back looking at the stars on my early visits, I was overwhelmed by the sights–GOD–I don’t know, but some thing or someone was letting me see the beauty in this world. By the way my trips in the 60’s was after I returned from Viet-Nam, where I found GOD was with Me in a few foxholes and when I got shot down in my helo, belive or not I do, thanks to the photogs for the pic’s and the memories.
I am feeling the need to get in a raft and finish what I began in 1972 when I was visiting the canyon and pregnant with my oldest son. Now I want to share it with my youngest son who is 15. I didn’t dare get on a mule and ride down the trail then. Now I want to have the entire experience. Everything about the canyon is beautiful. Great photos, but they can’t even begin to capture the majesty of looking out at the canyon. It’s too strange to put into words, but your depth perception plays tricks on your eyes. Just remember thinking, ‘This can’t be!. It is just too big!.’
Thank you for the fantastic photos.
The Grand Canyon is an awesome work of God is all I can say!
Surely you can remember MAN created Dacha, Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. I would much rather believe in God and find out there is NOT one than NOT to believe and find out there is one. I don’t need nature to confirm his existance….nature is just an “added benefit” of his love and care.
I feel so sorry for these people who do not believe in our living God. He was, is and always will be the mighty creator of all things. Not a direct quote, but the scriptures say that God made all things and all things were made by him. Sad situation when someone can say that God was a figment of mans imagination or that he was created by us for us to have something in which to believe. I feel him with me everyday and he has been with me in many situations that I would not have survived if he had not been. Of course, The Canyon was God’s work of Art as is all the other things of beauty that he has put on this earth for us to enjoy. Be greatful for all he has given us. If you don’t you need to rethink before your time is up.
Well, no-one likes to be called ‘delusional’ but sometimes the truth hurts…
The plain fact is that you have been horn-swoggled by your tradition, your family and community’s beliefs and can’t think clearly, RATIONALLY. can’t you take one small step back and say.. “Hmmm, I DO believe this stuff because I have been told it… by my family, community, on television”, etc. where is the actual proof of ANY of it? Quoting the bible just digs you in the ‘hole’ deeper. Man created the bible, right? What OTHER creature on earth do you know that has the ability to conjure up such a book? an antelope did not create the bible, so it is a pretty sure bet that humans did… THEN you can ask yourself “why was the bible created in Bronze-age Middle east where 99% of people were illiterate? 200,000 years of modern human existence and this god of yours decided to come out of the clouds 197,000 years later, in a place where no-one could understand him?? Makes sense to me.. lol
You make a couple huge asumptions when making this comment,
1. “Margaret” was “horn-swoggled by your tradition, your family and community’s beliefs and can’t think clearly” for all you know, she could have come to believe in God at the age of 27, after growing up in Foster care where no one even mentioned God unless to swear or make jokes.
2. You assume that she has not studied both sides of the issue with a rational point of view. I can assure you, I have, and when you actually make an inquest from both sides of the argument without bias only then can an answer be found.
3. You assume there is no proof supporting Creationsism. I could argue the same thing, because as it stands Darwinism is only a theory. Not a fact. On the same line, you assume there is concrete proof supporting Darwinism. Which, there is none, or it would be fact, not theory.
And before I forget to mention it, did you know that Darwin later recanted his theory and became a Christian? It’s true. His wife Emma documented it in her diary. Which I have heard read and seen with my own eyes when it was but three feet in front of me.
comments accepted…. but they are hardly accurate. Let me enlighten you and all who may care to listen:
1) If margaret came to her belief later on in life after foster-care (and no mention of God came to her ears) where did she get the idea of the (I suppose you mean christian) God??) Certainly, If she needed to believe in ANY god to help deal somehow with her past bad experiences, then so-be-it. far be it from me to deny anyone a crutch or help-mechanism to help them out. It is doubtful, in this day and age, that NO mention of God ever came to her. This supposed belief by her is NO evidence of any God’s existence, so I really don’t know what your point was there..
2) I assume you mean you know of a God’s existence then, after you have rationally looked into both sides? what side do I have, then? I don’t believe any God’s exist. It’s that simple. However, as soon as someone opens their mouth and says “yes god does exist.”. then the questions most rightly start pouring out…. Believing in any god is a personal belief… nothing more. To stand on a soap-box though and state one actually exists is simply an invitation for someone like me, a non-believer in any gods’ existence to come forth and ask for some proof. I don’t think that’s too much to ask…
3) There IS no proof supporting Creationism. All that results is an intellectual discussion in the areas of metaphysics, and philiosophy…nothing more. All the old, tired arguments can be refuted with ease (after a bit of study) and I can hardly wait for some new and exciting ones to come around the corner…. Oh, Are you kidding me with this Darwin comment? Evolution (I assume to which you are referring) is a theory and not a fact??.. Google something like “how science creates fact” or some-such thing…… My GOD will you please do some research before making a comment like that!
On Darwin recanting his theory and becoming Christian. Let’s be clear. Regardless of what one man’s proclivities are (were) with regards to religious-belief–and to what degree– i hardly find it unusual that someone from the mid-1800’s would not be at least partially religious… or at least entertained the concept, even if he DID begin the theory of evolution by natural selection. What difference does it make? If I had a religious theory and put it out there, and scientists the world over studies it and scrutinized it and tested it ad infinitum, and it seemed to hold water… then… guess what?? This theory becomes FACT… until something comes along that disproves it…. Am I causing you to think a bit here??
just my 2 cents (and then some!)
3)
Did Adam have a belly button?
Don’t you remember MAN created Dachau, Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. You really don’t have to have Nature to believe in God…I would much rather believe in HIM and find out he doen’t exist, than to NOT believe in Him and find out he does! My life is “liveable” believing!!!!
you said that right, Pat.
Not to kick a horse when he’s down…but consider the following:
Let’s assume you are talking about the Christian religion. You do realize that there have been over 10,000 God’s worshipped throughout history? Each sometimes had millions of followers (in a much smaller population-base). What makes you so confident that the very specific God in which you worship, is THE God. why is your God any better than the classical Greek Gods that were loved and adored By millions? I bet you are ‘atheistic’ towards those God’s.
Boy, what a coincidence that you believe in the Christian God… Let’s see, at last count there were around 1 billion of you?? Something tells me you did not arrive at your belief out-of-the-blue… NO.. I suspect you went to church, had a community that pretty-much believed in the same God…
If you grew up with parents from Mumbai… guess what, my acquaintance, you would be praying to Hindu God’s!!! Do you understand the gist of what I am saying. The Christian God is just arbitrary. So is every other God that has ever been worshipped..
another 2 cents 9I think I’m up to a buck already, lol)
Oh, but the bones of all the other gods are still in the grave, but you will not find the bones of Jesus. Because He bodily rose from the dead and just as He did, we will one day be resurrected from the dead, our spirit which goes to Heaven when we die will be reunited with our body from the grave, (the resurrected body will be incorruptible) and will be raptured and taken to Heaven with Jesus when He comes for the Church (the earthly body of Christ). Don’t gamble on being left behind. You say it isn’t true, but just suppose it is. I would not miss it for anything.
wow!!!!! Those picture are amazing!!!! I really want to go to the Grand Canyon
what was here before the the great bang, there have been big bangs going on for all time an time is forever
Beautiful! and More beautiful!
What a beautiful job God did when he made the Grand Canyon. It is most impressive. I have not seen it, but would like to go.
Grand Canyon gets more amazing in every different view of it. If you have a free year or two
it can be seen so from many different angles. Each one is more beautiful. It shows us how
insignificant we are as individuals. Looks better every time I see pictures of it.
Visited the Grand Canyon !956 .This show of pictures is more spectacular than being there, thank you .
There is no doubt in my mind as to whether God created the Grand Canyon. He, the Creator, created everything in this world and every person in this world. I am so thankful to be a Christian and to have God in my heart and His son Jesus Christ as my savior. He’s there for everyone, all you have to do is believe and ask Him to be. He’s waiting…………
So, the FACT that modern Homo Sapien man has been here for around 2000,00 years only.. that over 98% of all species on this planet has become extinct and that Fact that we know the rough age of our planet… I am perplexed… The earth has been here for 14 billion (?) years and this god popped us here 200,000 years ago..
OH WAIT A MINUTE.. most Christians think the world is only 10,000 years old….. still can’t win
Ray..you might as well give up when trying to address the god-believers…you’re talking to a dead horse.
This is most of wait Christopher Hitchen’s said but you’re wrong, Earth is 4.7 billion years old. But, otherwise I do agree.
This is most of what Christopher Hitchen’s said but you’re wrong, Earth is 4.7 billion years old. But, otherwise I do agree.
God created the Heavens and the Earth and that includes the beauteous Grand Canyon which I have had the privilege of seeing while visiting friends in Tucson. The word ‘Awsome’ is used in many contexts that are so banal it has lost its true meaning. At the Canyon it is the ONLY word to describe the amazing colours and rock formations. Thamk you for taking these pictures that will keep the memory of my visit alive, and thankyou Lord for giving us so much beauty to enjoy. Jo Otero. United Kingdom.
I have been to the Grand Canyon – both sides – many times and never can believe what I am looking at! It is one of the most beautiful spots in the whole World! When one stops to think of how old it is and how old the Colorado River is…it blows my mind! I am very happy that these pictures are out on the ‘internet’ so those, who have not been privileged to see the Grand Canyon, can at least see pictures of it. Thank you. Edna
How could such beauty generate such closed minded thoughts. We all have the right to believe whatever we choose, “and who will cast the first stone?”
The pictures are fantastic! I was on a geological float trip in the 70’s and if you can’t see the hand of God there then your eyes aren’t open. The belief in God is pure faith.
Had a hard time getting my response in the right place, but here it is.
What a load of BS Sue
All, it turns out that a “mini-grand canyon” was formed in just 3 weeks after Mount Saint Helen’s erupted in 1980, complete with “fossils” that were carbon dated as 100’s of 1000’s of years old where half was still a part of a living tree and the other half was “petrified”. Be careful of the “science” in which you are putting your faith. We all put our faith in something. At least check out Jesus Christ. He loves you and has been pursuing you since the day you were born. (Research the after affects of the eruption. Very interesting.)
P.S. If the solar system was billions of years old, the nuclear fusion of the sun would have fizzled out long before now, at the current rate of consumption. It’s only been a few thousand years.
From Job 38:2-5 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me if you understand. Who marked off it’s dimensions? Surely you know. Who stretched a measuring line across it?”
You’re an idiot. You can’t use carbon dating (or various other types of radiometric dating) on things that are recent, the carbon 14 decay probabilities (or of other isotopes) won’t be significant enough to be detectable, and the range you’ll get is just insane. So of course it came out to be thousands of years old, that’s the margin of error!! You can’t apply wrong science, get a wrong answer, and use that to disprove everything!
And you clearly don’t understand nuclear chemistry, especially stellar nuclear fusion.
What a load of BS
Frank
Sue is probably a “creation scientist”. They start off with the premise that GOD created everything in the timeline that they believe in, and make up “facts” to support their ideas, while ignoring everything that disproves their ideas. No peer review discussions, no independant verification of supporting arguments, just say what ever sounds good. It is similar to trying to force a square peg into a round hole with a hammer.
Just got back from our latest trip to the GRAND Canyon. We rented bikes and spent all day stopping to admire the views. Glad you were able to share this special place with your sister and sons, Kathleen. God bless you.
Interesting comments. As for me, Jesus is my savior. No critics can ever change that. I trust Him with all my being, now and forever. Jesus died for me, rose on the third day, ascended to Heaven to prepare a place for me, and will return some day for all who believe in Him. Thankyou, David Brockus
What is he saving you from?
Why am I a happy camper with no burden from this strange belief, and can live probably pretty-much the same general life as you.. WITHOUT this belief.. There must be a reason for that. Have you not even thought about that? Reason and common-sense pervades most of our decisions on a daily basis. Why would you simply throw caution-to-the-wind and throw up your hands and believe this nonsense?
Because you have been indoctrinated into it.
If you are so happy with no burden, why have you spent the last few hours riduculing others for their personal beliefs? It sounds to me by your writing and choice of words that you actually are just waiting for someone to give you a reason to believe, one that you can use to assure yourself that you made the right choice by chosing Jesus. I know that littl voice in the back of your head that your trying to ignore is saying “What if?” “What if their right?” My question is, why don’t you search for proof of creationism yourself? If your right, you find nothing, if your wrong, you get the chance to have peace of mind. You have nothing to loose.
If you have actually read all my comments, then you have spent as much time here as I have.
I hope I have NOT been ridiculing anyone. I stated a number of times that belief in god is a personal thing.. the DIFFERENCE ( or what makes me animated to ‘argument’ ) is when someone actually believes that a GOD ACTUALLY EXISTS. There is a big difference, even if you don’t happen to see it.
YOUR comments here, on the other hand, are a little condescending. I have mentioned I am an atheist. I am not agnostic, THEN I might say “what if they are right?”….
I would love to hear your BEST proof of Creationism. I will even give you a few days to do some research, if you like. 10 times out of 10 I bet anything you like you will come up with all the tired old arguments which have been refuted intelligently and precisely over the years. Please come up with a doozy, otherwise we will all be disappointed.
You skewered them with logic Ray but deeply held beliefs defy
logic. If you can believe in gifted people some of them say
God is the source of their muse. To them such system as
religion liberates them to produce their works. We on the
other hand live the best we can without this
system and take full credit for our works.
Mother Nature.
I do not need supernatural gods. I believe in the natural world and it is amazing. We are the victim of where we are born as to our belief system.
GOD IS GOOD
MAGICAL, BEAUTY AND AWE INSPIRING. I FEEL HUMBLE WHEN I SEE THIS NATURAL BEAUTY. ALL WE MUST DO IS TREASURE AND LOOK AFTER IT. THANK GD FOR SUCH WONDERS WE CAN SHARE AND ENJOY
LOVE AND LIGHT RONA
Wonderful photos! In my 77 years I’ve been blessed with opportunities to see lots of this world and I am thrilled to see God’s handiwork. I feel sorry for those who have to rely on natural causes for the beauty we see in this intricately designed spectacle–or in the eye of a child. Of course those things simply could not happen by themselves and an honest scientist, considering the sheer odds of everything lining up in the right order, will have to admit that it is impossible. In fact a Professor of Biology at Harvard said that very thing but then said “We choose to believe the impossible because the alternative is unthinkable!” The athiest can assert that “There is no God.”– but he has to take that on faith, doesn’t he?
I have been to the Grand Canyon twice, but these photos show the canyon in ways I certainly did not see it. They are the most beautiful photos that I have ever seen of the Grand Canyon.
Gorgeous beyond words !
Bernie
Sorry for you
Whom ever posted the pictures thank you
It may have a two fold purpose a show of some of the beauty around us and possibly I hope this Bernie fellow reads the comments he may reflect on his own nature.
Ron
From its depth and looking up will make you believe. I’ve been down it all the way to the river three times. More Awesome looking up from the depth.
These pictures are fantastic, making one feel humble with the grandeur of the Grand Canyon. I know I will not get to see them in my lifetime, but will pass these pictures to others who may be able to visit. A question whether they are the work of God? It is my belief that man could never achieve such majesty.
What a lovely view of God’s handiwork – you’ve got to enjoy it as my wife and i have; and only in person, does it really reveal it’s beauty !!
We (my husband & I) had an opportunity to work at the Grand Canyon for 3 months. It was amazing how different the view of different areas could change at differnt times of the day. The lighting was fabulous. I could always find a diffferent view and was never bored on days off when we could go exploring. I have no doubt it is a great part of God’s Handiwork!
Bernie, the price of gold went up to-day.See I know a lot of BERNIE,S
Awesome, in the truest sense of the word. Thank you for posting.
I believe in a divine entity of perfect love and grace, and I believe that entity is responsible for the feelings of awe and inspiration we have in response to the Grand Canyon. In the same sense, I believe that the Bible was “divinely inspired.”
I also believe that the universe behaves according to well-defined laws of physics that have been unchanged since the beginning of time (i.e. [according to one cosmological theory] “since” the singularity in the rectilinear representation of the space-time continuum that we call the Big Bang), and that will remain unchanged until the end of time (i.e. the corresponding singularity that occurs far, far in the future when the universe collapses into a point).
There is no possible evidence either “for” or “against” God, much less proof. No matter what you choose to believe about the divine, doing so is an act of faith. There is, however, plenty of evidence for some things stated in the Bible, and plenty of evidence against other things. The challenge for organized religion is to separate the theology from the mythology. Otherwise, they will die together.
BTW, I hadn’t heard before the claims about the “mini-Grand Canyon,” so I Googled it. It’s an idea put forth by the Institute for Creation Research. However, since it has not been accepted for publication by a legitimate scientific journal, it should not be called “science.” Here is one response to the idea: http://scienceblogs.com/dispatches/2007/08/creationism_and_the_grand_cany.php.
Peace
To say that there is no proof against the existence of god is false.
Which god are you talking about? There have been over 10,000 recorded deities in our world’s history. Which one do you mean? are you referring to the one YOU have been brought to believe exists?
To say I have no proof that god does not exist is like telling me I have to prove flying elephants don’t exist, or ghosts, hobgoblins or the tooth fairy. I don’t HAVE to prove gods do not exist. You, on the other hand, have the majority of the burden of proof… Making a statement like “a god exists” automatically suggests that the ‘speaker’.. step up to the plate to prove of this supposed existence… that does make sense to you, right?
Here is some wonderful pictures…of a great big hole in the ground..and what is really sad… Marisa and myself moved to Arizona over 2 years ago and have not yet been to see the BIG HOLE… sad Hey???
very sad, since it really is all about yourself and marissa.
Did the “big bang” just bang out of nothing at all or was there something created first so it could occur?
come on… read some books and you’ll know the answer to that one. Shall I say it for you?
‘we’ DON’T KNOW how it started (if it was the big bang) but raising up your hands and declaring that “god did it” is not getting us anywhere.. it’s just towing the party line as it has been the case for 2,000 years… the same old drivel..
I live in Northern Arizona a short trip away from the G.C. I have been there during different seasons and times of the day. As others have said, the lighting and cloud movement are ever changing. As many times as I have hiked, rafted, camped and just stopped off at the overlooks, it is always different and amazing. Can’t understand why many people from back East come only to the Phoenix area for the warm weather and never venture to this awesome attraction up north or the other scenic areas of Arizona. As a friend of mine once said–her husband would only visit attractions that include a golf course. Too bad for him as she was fortunate enough to take this splendid, and for many, once in a lifetime trip with me. It’s true–every American needs to see the Grand Canyon before they die. Thanks for the pix!
Fabulous pictures of the Grand Canyon…Have visited and stayed in the campgrounds twice. My very
first view of the Canyon was from a helicoper that my husband booked while I ate my breakfast. Flying over the trees and then over that gigantic canyon was breathtaking. The Grand Canyon National Park is one of our favorites…but try to visit as many of the National Parks as possible…they are all wonderful.
just enjoy ALL! EVERYTHING!
I just love this discussion on the existance of God. I love it more than the pictures. You people are very smart and intertaining. Keep it going.
Bernie…I don’t know who you are or where you’re from but, I love you. All of these “loving” and “christian” are the biggest group of hypocrites world wide. Lets all go to church to be preached to by a child loving priests that will molest children, lie to the public, steal from the church. Yeah, lets hear it christians. Was that “man of God” forgiven? Did the kids forgive him as well? How about yourself? The list goes on and on and on. God is just a figure that weak minded, feeble people can hide behind.
Wow this is amazing I wish I could be their right now.
I have been to the Grand Canyon a couple of times in my life time and it is truly a beautiful work of GOD at his best. It is so awesome with the many different colors that it depicts. Every color of the rainbow and then some.
In 1985 my wife Jackie and I had the opportunity to fly in the Grand Canyon. It was absolutely fantastic. If you haven’t visited the Canyon, I do recommend taking a flight. What an awesome sight! We are blessed to have a Heavenly Father who cares.
Unfortunately, this site seems to have been largely hijacked by bible-belt fundamentalist whose minds seem to have been shutdown by various charlatans, pastors and the like with their facile answers to the mysteries of this fascinating universe. The Grand Canyon is one of the most beautiful destinations on our planet but its development over the aeons has absolutely nothing to do with any supreme being or god. And for creationists to try to twist the historical record (dinosaurs, ancient rocks, fossils, light arriving from stars millions of light-years distant) into a time frame (the world began in 4004 BC) invented by the 17th-century Bishop Ussher through a misreading of the old testament is ludicrous and diminishes us all. Please folks, open your critical faculties to the wonderment of the Cosmos and reject the idiotic explanations for it all you’ve been spoonfed. Most of the civilized world increasingly finds Americans naive and simplistic and the views presented above do little to refute this perspective.
Not this site, just this post.
You choose not to believe. Your faith is in man and his explanations, based on his intellect. I don’t have a whole lot of faith in man – you don’t have faith in something greater. When it is all over for us both, we can see who is right. Until then, I am happy with my belief, and I hope that you are happy with your belief. I am not belittling you for what you believe, and I would appreciate it very much if you would do me the same honor.
Remember what it was like before you were born? Of course not and things will be exactly the same for you after you die. Reality may suck but it’s better than going through life believing in a fairy tale. Sorry to disillusion you…
Mistaken thought, unfortunately. As an atheist I simply don’t believe in any god’s existence. It is not a “belief’ as you would have us think. It is not a belief system… not at all. God’s don’t exist, except in peoples minds… end of story. I’d go nuts if I had to be burdened with this heavy-weight belief system of yours… wow….
Great photos. Thanks!
Nothing like religion to bring out the ‘best’ in people. Live and let live.
Well, I admire the sentiment, but sometimes getting to the TRUTH in a subject is worth the discussion. To say that a god really does exist is so strange to me….. a mild, benign church once in a while tradition… christmas… yaddda yadda is OK… but to take it much further than that seems to border on the mildly delusional…. or more
WELL SAID. ISN’T THIS CRAZY .. AFTER LOOKING AT SUCH BEAUTIFUL PICTURES!
Phenomenol and inspiring pictures and, amidst the lofty and not-so-lofty statements, thanks Ted for bringing us back down to earth. One of many messages: Live Love Laugh – and see the Grand Canyon.
Why argue about “who” or “what” created it? It is a beautiful and wonderous place. All that matters is the awe in each of our hearts and minds. I love the mountains because they are more than anything I know man can create. I love the ocean because it seems to have no end. I am truly humbled by the things I see.
You go Girl!! Don’t you just hate it when people can’t just enjoy something for what it is and not have to bring bring their beliefs into it! BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS, THAT”S WHAT THEY ARE! Thank You for You! Have a Great Day and enjoy all the wonders there are to enjoy!
I am humbled by the things I see to, but the discussion Can be fun….
God has always been, God is, and God ever shall be. Without God, there is nothing. Without God, we are nothing. God works according to His own plans, and in His own time. Glory be to God!
I am amazed that a one-liner from a person with a non-mainstream belief about absence of God can get so MANY responses that are narrow-minded and kind of leave the beauty of the Grand Canyon behind for judgmental arguments! One opinion is that Christ AND Allah told us we are not to judge, only to love.
It´s breathtaking. We visit Grand Canyon in 2008,it was unbelivibel. We have seen many places but nothing like that.Hope to see it once again.
Ed and Marge, one of you is a poet! What a great description of the Grand Canyon! I believe God is the creator of the universe and all things therein….but many things in nature are allowed to take their course according to the ‘laws’ of nature. People were created with commandment no. 1 to love Him- ‘God’ first and then our fellow man. Christians will love Bernie and pray for him ‘see’ God and his Son for himself someday.
All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Have been there in 2008, spent the whole day, did the Colorado river boat tour. Need to go back and take it all in again. A sight you never have enough of whether created by our Creator, man or time. The beauty of it all cannot be denied.
To Mathman: you need to lighten up!
OOOHHHMY GOD!!!!
I used to hear that every night.
I just think ALL the pictures are beautiful
not knowing, it appeared the the canyon was under
water and then I learned it was. What a majestic sight!
God is Everything and everywhere!!
[…] isolated crimson mesas and buttes seem to change colors much like the majestic Grand Canyon, depending upon the play of light, clouds and shadows. Monument Valley has been photographed and […]
Bernie,
Don’t worry about the nonsense remarks you received. These people do not realize that god is only a figment of their imagination.
I have to ask them a question though. Did god use a big or small hammer and chisel to create the Grand Canyon?
considering he made the universe with trillions of planets.. I imagine that he made it in .000000000000000004 of one of our seconds…. with a grand canyon making tool.. like a stamp.. there;s probably identical grand canyons on billions of other planets…
That is a stupid question one would relate to a grade school or below mentality. Just plain ignorant.
My friends Di & Sandy took me to see the Grand Canyon, It didn’t look real, I walked to the edge and I couldn’t believe my eyes. We listen to a lady talking about the Grand Canyon and in the background a girl was playing the title song of Titic on a flute, It was so quite and beautiful and this was not planed, but maybe God did that just for me to believe that anything is possible in life, you just have to believe. God Bless the Grand Cayon staff. Helen Esposito
What truly amazing pictures! There is no such thing as “Mother Nature” but only Almighty God, the Creator of ALL THINGS! What an awesome God – He created you and He also created me. We are living at such a time as this, in His sovereignty. Sadly, those who think he is a god of our imagination, will have a shock coming! He is truly a living God, and Jesus Christ is the only way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by HIM! He is the only Redeemer, the only One who can forgive sins. We are all sinners, inherited from the adamic fall! Read Genesis in the Bible. God spoke and the world was created. Rosefen
I have been to one area of the Grand Canyon,,, someone asked of all my travels. 43 states,3 countries which one was the most awesome… and I had no problems saying the Grand Canyon… soooo beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
The mule ride to Phantom Ranch was an all time favorite memory. Breathtaking. There was a full moon the night at the ranch and the moonlight bounced off the cliffs. Very special. I will not argue the GOD issue. I can only say we felt his presence there.
When I see the photos above, only one verse from the Bible comes to mind – “The fool hath said in his heart, THERE IS no God.†[Psalm 14:1] The careful reader will notice that the words “there is†have been supplied by the translators—unnecessarily, we feel. The fool does not say in HIS HEAD, “There is no Godâ€; rather he says in HIS HEART, “No God for ME! I decline allegiance to Him!†It is not intellectual unbelief denying the existence of Deity, but the enmity of a rebel who refuses to practically own or be in subjection to the God who created ALL THINGS!
What ever happened to Bernie? We never heard from him after his one remark… I wonder?
LOL
Bernie had the power to unleash this barrage of comments…maybe HE is the godhead!
GOD IS GREAT……….GOD IS GOOD……….GOD IS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD………..but did he create
my neighborhood, or anything else for that matter?
is god always good?
one thing for sure god is always great.
just a thought by frank in las vegas
what happens in Vegas….
Just figured out the reply thing, so my other reply is at the bottom of the page. Thanks for some great arguments. I agree with you.
In 1972,I went down the Grand Canyon with my two kids from Lake Powell to Lake Mead on two converted WWII landing raft. Most memorable trip I have ever taken. No outside communication. When we got to Lake Mead, one member asked “I wonder what they’ve been doing while we’ve been gone?” Only the Canyon stays the same!
I’m amazed at some of these comments – I’ll bet our heavenly Father is too.
Janie – I’ve been reading some of the remarks denouncing the existance of God or whatever higher Being one decides to believe in. Sometimes, I imagine God sitting in Heaven, looking down at man, his most prized creation, and just shaking his head in wonderment. I’m certain he doesn’t get angry, just mistified at what man does and thinks. Kind of like a parent who has occasion to say, “Where did I go wrong”.
Thankyou Momma,if it weren’t for you living in Prescott,Az. I probably would not hv ever been able to see such beauty in the Grand Canyon and even got to stay there. My brother has also enjoyed trips to the G.Canyon with Momma. What wonderful memories. This site of pics with and about the Grand Canyon were awsome. Thank you for sharing.
Suzie Hanna, NV.
This is nothing. I can understand the nature forces that created it. Contemplate the vastness of the universe, then explore your religious befiefs. That will give you pause
Poets and comedians speak directly and come closer to the truth than the self-named experts. Flip Wilson often said, “What you see is what you get.” and can we paraphrase that: ‘What you see is what you are,’ which in turn makes you believe as you do – no question – it’s all decided. Some people believe in God, others don’t believe. Both are opinions, neither position is provable. Those who say they believe are maybe afraid not to believe – that is fear which negates love. Perhaps they do not want to prejudice their spot reserved in heaven they have worked so hard for, and not suffer the ‘wrath of God.’ Those so-called a-theists must either worship or destroy that which they do not understand, and are apparently incapable of the former. “Misery loves company?”
A poet said, “The universe (world) has no cause – it is.” and we make of it as we will. Let us take care not to be hypnotized by words – not by our own nor those of the politicians and clergy. “What you see is what you get!” It’is all there, take a look.
To all non believers: I would rather believe in God during my lifetime and find out there is not a God after I die, than be a non believer who dies and finds out there is. Let this sink in for a while.

yes the grand canyon is a nice place to visit !!
eventhough i never been there !! i would like to go some year !!!
Interesting debate, it’s gone from appreciating some truly wonderful photos of a magical place to a debate about god. Let’s just appreciate the canyon for what it is and marvel at the beauty of the land. If you’ve never been yourself, none of the photos I’ve seen do it justice, you have to be there and see it with your own eyes.
One of the wonders of the world! I flew into the Grand and it was breath taking! If you ever get the chance to see it, go! It will leave a lasting memory and it will make you feel the presence of God and his ausome power. I had that same rush when I first seen the ocean. Makes you feel how small and tiny man is next to God! I felt the same rush when I seen Niagara Falls for the first time. Why do we go to other country’s when we have such sights in our own country? : )
I can be inspired by things on this planet without concluding it was all done by an invisible, silent, unavailable for interview, incomprehensible hence undefined, god. But whatever floats your boat. Life is a great planet ride. Enjoy.
God created the Universe and the unimaginable beyond. What else could be the cause? As for our Earth, it evolved, and in the process man and woman evolved. Unlike other species and nature itself, bound to the strictures of heat, movement, water, and rock itself, and for living things the spirit of survival and reproduction, Man and Woman evolved with the unique capacity of reasoning and choices that come with reasoning, some naming it “free will”. Some men and women respond with action/inaction judged by their fellow humans at the time as evil or good. Whether our decisions/action and inaction are good or evil are judged at least once (by one’s fellow humans). Some believe the exercise of this special and unique capability of evolved free will will come to be judged twice, inasmuch as those to whom are given much is expected much. We shall see. Suffice it to say, that while we are on this Earth, this alleged 14 billion year process has given us the heart, mind, eyes, ears and soul to see beauty, including that of the Grand Canyon. At least the comments foregoing are unanimous in that. What is chilling is reflecting on whether we have used our unique intellect to decide what is in our best interests. If we do our best in this endeavor, we will reap the benefits of this exercise while living. If we do less than our best, we will chance a second judgment of our behavior towards our fellow humans, to say nothing of the earth and lesser animals. Our best interests are served by seeing beauty and good in all of creation, man, woman, child, earth, and the universe. No one seems troubled with seeing the beauty of the Grand Canyon. Is it much more of a step to treat all of creation as we see the Grand Canyon?
Either you believe the first four words–or you don’t accept the rest of the book, and all that God has and will do . . . “In the beginning, God—“
Wow. I can understand why “believers” try to convince the “non-believers”–they believe in eternal salvation (or some such thing), and they want to share it with others so that the others might also be saved. That’s how their dogma works.
But it is really puzzling why the “non-believers” work so hard and are so adamant about trying to convert the “believers.” Why? If it is as you say, then why should you give a flip what they believe? This is a case of “methinks they dost protest too much.”
As Cyndi said above–if you don’t believe, you’d better be right. There is no harm in hedging your bets on this one, so why fight so hard against it? What do you get if you convert everyone? A world with no morals? A society with only the fear of retaliatory force to regulate people’s behavior? A system where only the strongest can ever be “right”? No matter who your god might be, it is religion that has held civilization together for all this time–why would anyone want to destroy that, simply because they have the hubris to believe that they somehow know better?
We non-believers in god don’t want to convert believers. We just want our voices heard too. In this great (in many ways) country if one doesn’t believe in god it’s assumed we’re amoral, deviant. I know many so-called Christians who are full of hate, beat their children, cheat on spouses yet they go to church and think I’m the one going to hell (if there were a hell). The people I know who are atheists are thoughtful, hard-working, honest, generous, raising their kids to be good citizens. And I know plenty of people who believe in god who are as well. It’s not about religion. It’s about who you are as a person.
Amen brother….
Excellent words Joe – coming closer to logic and the ancients.
Namaste,
Peter
THOSE of you that can’t see GOD’S wounderous work all around us. all I can say is aproch all of life with an open mind learn to appreciate the beauty…GOD IS GOOD
“it is religion that has held civilization together”? Wow, maybe you should review history, and look around you. Today the biggest threat to civilization is the people with the most god faith, people who behave irrationally and violently based on a direction they imagine they have received from their invisible god. They’re about to get nukes.
Why do you want to degrade a great series of pictures by trying to tie it to your superstitious beliefs, that you can’t defend with real evidence?
You’re approaching it form the wrong perspective Don.
Without either the knowing or the sensing of a Divine Oneness, mankind is always exposed to its less evolved material characteristics. Albeit organized religions decay and corrupt over time as everything else does until it is periodically rebuilt (through inspirational historical as well a future occurrences).
There is no need to lambast the beliefs of religionists, their consciousness obviously still needs the story of Jesus, Moses, Mohammed, etc – in spite of the fact that they are divisive for the time being. The spiritual evolution of mankind takes eons and on a higher level of understanding the overriding Religion of Oneness – similar to Buddha’s ‘be a lamp to your own feet’ takes care of any remaining discrepancy.
In the mean time there probably is a need for a person to experience a life or two on this earth with the consciousness of an atheist (or agnostic) – that’s also a karmic learning process.
Namaste,
Peter
These are some of the most spectacular pictures of the canyon I’ve seen, along with Nat’l Geographic’s pics. As has been said, the Canyon never looks the same twice ! There are pics here, taken during different weather series; no one ever sees them all !! Thanks for the magnificent views.
I’ve been there a several times. It is amazing what God and nature has done. I even had the opportunity to fly into the canyon for an aireal tour in a small plane. I recommend it.
Do you believe we have wind? CAN YOU SEE WIND? Just like you can’t see the wind, you can’t see God. The creation was formed by God, and each of us has been created in His image.
Lord have mercy on your soul. Hope you will come to believe in our Awesome God, who died for your sins if you would allow HIM to enter into your heart and soul.
hahaha this is exactly the sort of religious circle-talking and analogy-making that really doesn’t make sense. You can’t argue with these types because their answer to everything is “God intended it.”
Wind is just air moving around and air is just a hodgepodge of atmospheric gases! Give me a break.
WOW, An unbelievabe piece of writing! “you can’t see God”, then “and each of us has been created in his image” Unbelievable the thinking (of lack of) of some people.
I have never read such a load of juvenile, superstitious drivel in all my life. Man invented god, not the other way around. It is just a way of explaining things when no answer is apparent. Obviously we humans (in general) have not come too far from the cave. There is no afterlife, no god, no mysterious beings, no heaven, no hell. If you only could see how ridiculous your infantile statements are and realize that this is all there is, so just get on with it and enjoy your limited time.
GRAND CANYON IS ‘GRAND’ RELATIVE TO OUR SIZE. THE WHOLE EARTH, NAY THE WHOLE SOLAR SYSTEM AND MORE IS ALMOST NOTHING BUT A DROP IN AN OCEAN WHEN COMPARED TO SIZE OF THE KNOWN UNIVERSE.
WE ARE HAPPY TO ENJOY SUCH SCENERIES AROUND US. WHEN SCENERIES INSPIRE US TO REALISE OUR LIMITATIONS AND MAKE US THINK ABOUT UNKNOWN BENEFACTOR/S (SAY GOD), THERE IS NO HARM. THE HARM COMES WHEN WE ARGUE WITH EACH OTHER ABOUT OUR BELIEFS. EVERYONE STARTS THINKING HIS/HER BELIEF IS AN ETERNAL TRUTH. IS THAT A RIGHT APPROACH??
WHAT WE BELIEVE IS INSIGNIFICANT COMPARED TO HOW WE BEHAVE WITH EACH OTHER. THE PRIME PURPOSE OF ANY RELIGION IS TO STRAIGHTEN-UP OUR BEHAVIOUR. WITH OUR LIMITATIONS AND DRAWBACKS UNDERSTOOD, OUR ANCESTORS INCORPORATED ALL MEANS ( STRAIGHT ADVICE – SOME PROMTING REWARDS – SOME PUNISHMENTS AND FEARS – SOME MYSTERIES – SOME RITUALS etc..) IN PROPAGATING THOUGHTS AND STORIES GROUPED AS RELIGION. EGO/ANGER/LUST/GREED etc.. ARE OUR GREAT ENEMIES. CONQUERING THEM IS MORE RELIGIOUS THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
GRAND CANYON IS AWESOME, NO DOUBT.
The photos are amazing. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the opportunity to see this beautiful piece of our earth. I am sorry that so many of you feel the need to break into and make effort to destroy one persons opinion and view … yours is not more important, and you sure arent’ changing anyone’s beliefs… did being mean make you feel bigger or more intellectual? Or perhaps you are afraid you might be wrong. Why not just say THANK YOU to the artist that assembled this for our pleasure?
It took wind, rain, heat, cold, ice, plant life, upheavel of the earth to create this beauty; can you do it?
Great pics. I’ve only seen it from the air but I’ve been to Crater Lake and I call it the place God goes to meditate and from these pictures I thisnk this is another meditation place for Him.
I suppose adults who tell children that Santa Claus is not real are sometimes characterized as mean, and ruining things, and they should just shut up because how can they be so sure that Santa Claus is not real?
I have been to the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, NY and Canada, Yellowstone, Gone up Pike’s Peak, and been to over 30 of the States in the good ole U.S of A. I have seen God in all those places, and His handiwork is just as Awesome As He, Himself. I have marveled at the buildings in SF. LV. DC. and all the Church Steeples throughout the US and Canada that I was blessed to view. For those that don’t know a god, I suggest you take the time to know the one and only God that matters. He has taken me to the mountains, been with me in the valleys, and remains with me each morning as I rise, walks with me through my days, and is there to hear my prayers each night before I fall asleep. I have 2 doctor diagnosed illnesses, and been through 6 surgeries for breast cancer within the last 4 years. I know without a doubt that God is here for me, and I truly pray you call on Him when no one else is there to hear your cry for healing, for peace when someone you love passes and before you yourself pass from this world we know…..God bless each of you and God bless America
When all is said and done the very best statement i have heard is “I would rather believe there is a GOD and when i die find there is no GOD than believe there is no GOD and die to find there is a GOD that will judge me”
I have heard that statement many times and totally agree with it. Yes Bruce, I will always believe that there is a God! If only everyone believed!!
i am a moral, caring person who doesn’t believe there is a god. i don’t fear god’s judgment. i know that if i am wrong about god’s existence, it doesn’t matter, because god will embrace me because of who i have been. shame on you all who judge that only “christians” will see heaven. to be so judgmental is not the least-bit god-like or christ-like. religion has caused many more problems in this world than it has solved. if you choose to believe and be a good person because you fear going to hell, wouldn’t god rather that you choose to be a good person because that is what you want to be? this implies to me you’d not be a good person if you weren’t worried about hell. that, de facto, makes you not a good person! i’m sorry for you.
well said
I come from a poor country a poor family no mom no father no godfather for a miracle I got tree university careers I am almost sixti years old and am very strong never get tired or sick I dont have any desease my teets are strong enough to eat anythyng I hate religions but I love God I have plenty of money and time not by miself but The Almity One is given all I need. I refused to be only the skin of this planet and to live only a hundred of years, thats not it but whow do you with your finite brain are going to understand infinite toughts and laws and miracles, tird word countries like mine families as ugly as mine poverty like I sufered for twelve years ( WHEN i waS A CHILD)only are different when you have God in your heart otherwise you do not care if your live or not.Velieve me your choose will be better if you put your faith in God never in men or in things mI prayer for you is that all of you will be more healthy richer and happier than mI.God bless you all. and forget men.
That was simply amazing. I wished I could go there some day. Praise the LORD.
these pics are lovley,, but it wasent god who made the grand cayon,, it was force of nature and god is not nature,,, the planet evvolved and this canyon was full of water at one point,, I have never seen god and so I dont believe there is one,, I believe you give a planet water and sun and earth and things will grow,, and I believe mostly old ppl who havent much left believe in god,, it gives them a feeling of hope,, but if I ever run into god,, and see him I may believe then and olny then,,but for now I am a scientest ,
The AWWWW!!!! feeling you all felt in seeing the Grand Canyon, wasn’t that a feeling of LOVE in that moment, I would even say of bliss?. Isn’t God Love?. And Love isn’t that the highest form of energy there is? and isn’t everything energy in one form or another?
Just close your eyes and listen to your heart beat. Then pretend you are in your heart, then feel the love that is in your heart and just let go to that love, just let go to God. Isn’t our journey here on earth to seek & express that love to all, because it is in all, it is…
I agree with the comment about how Christians don’t act ver Christian when face with other views. Can’t a person admire these photos in a secular manner?
Yes, of course we can, but there is such power represented in these pictures, that it seems to leave little doubt. For those who cannot accept a higher power, just enjoy the beauty that ‘nature’ has given us.
There is a God in Heaven. No one else could have done this.
Fantastic pictures. Must go sometime. Admire the beauty, let Bernie, and all of us, believe what we believe.
I’ve rafted down the Grand Canyon twice in the last 17 years (225 miles). Typically the trip takes 18 days. Rules of the raft trip – you pack out everything that your brought with you except your urine. The grind of 18 days will definitely have its way with you. You want to experience God – nature – beauty – confinement – isolation with 15 other people that you live with for 18 days – frustration – euphoral highs from challenging rapids – friendships that last a lifetime even though you only met them on this trip – a sky at night unmatched anywhere else. This awaits you.
Very Beautiful pictures!! I can’t wait to visit someday. I do think that it’s pathetic that you people have nothing better to do then argue about God, nature and science. My Mom always said “if you have nothing good to say then don’t say anything at all”
Peace 
Thanks for allowing me to share in these pictures of arguably the most awesome work of nature on Earth. As for those who find it impossible to enjoy the sheer beauty of the Canyon without irrelevant comments worthy of a religious fundamentalist tract written by Billy Sunday, chill out. Enjoy the beauty around you. God is beyond your understanding, as any theologian would be the first to admit.
What I find relatively amusing about belief is that all your information you have received ABOUT your (coincidentally-geographically relevant) belief is that they are man-made stories passed down from generation to generation.
Let me ask you this. If NO ONE ELSE believed in the Christian (I assume) religion… would you run up and down the streets telling people about how this guy JESUS ( there are a lot of them down here in Miami, lol) dies for our sins and will again rise from the dead…. NO!!!! You would be carted off to the loony-bins.
You believe because it has been entrenched in our society for thousands of years through family and community. Nice stories about this and that. NOT looking into the actual old and New testament for the real statements about the human sacrifices (yes, people, that actually happened back then.. why do you suppose it was included in the old testament? Because man wrote about what was happening at the time!!)…..
tired now…..
Remembered flying through the Grand Canyon looking at the walls on either side in an Army plane from a California Army base on my way to my final destination (East Central Africa) in the 40’s.
Strictly illegal but all young guys, very capable and awestruck by the view .
Pleasant memories.
Bruce, that’s called Pascal’s Wager. Check it out at Wikipedia. It only makes sense to someone who has been programed to believe in something for which there is not even a reasonable hypothesis based on scientific observation. Show me the god hypothesis. Subsequent to hypothesis comes theory, then demonstration of theory to peers in the field, then a consensus and conclusion. This is how we learn things about reality. There is only one reality by definition. It works much better than superstition. Of course “faith” skips all that and you were convinced at a pre-scientific outlook state that faith is a virtue. It is not. Skepticism and need for verification are virtues. Modern medicine and space travel are based in the scientific discipline, not superstition and faith.
Why is everyone using this as a Religious Platform and not just enjoying these Beautiful pictures for what they are BEAUTIFUL PICTURES!! Whether or not someone believes is their on business and yes Bernie should’ve kept his beliefs to himself but the bonehead didn’t. But that should not be a reason to tirn this into a debate on whether there is or isn’t a God! Those of us that know, know and that should be good enough! So I hope everyone enjoys these photos and has a Blessed Day!
Now please hold up a minute Rick. The first poster (Kathleen Harbour) stated that there is a god.
Should she also not have kept her beliefs to herself? Had she done so, perhaps this debate would never have started. But I daresay someone else would have felt impelled to thrust their illogical theology on the rest of us. Spare us from the god botherers.
When my husband planned our trip out West 3 yeas ago, he asked what I would like to see. One of my requests was to go to the Grand Canyon. I told him “Can you imagine dying and havng to tell God – well, no, I never went there” Our friends from Vermont met us there and we had such an awe-inspiring time just looking and looking and looking at the splendure. Just makes you wonder how such a large area got to be so beautiful at different times of the day. Well worth the trip. And the helicopter ride is magnificent.
I was there 11 years ago, when my wife and I took a train ride around the USA. Pictures cannot give it justice and cannot duplicate what the eye can see. Beautiful country.
Al
As a young 2nd Lt I flew down inside the canyon in a B 24. I thrilling experience and probably one of the most beautiful sights of my life. Fortunately my squadron commander who learned of the violation was of the forgiving type and i was not punished. Jerry
My son and daughter in-law & I toured both the West end – walked the glass walk and had a helicopter ride over the south rim. We can’t wait to go again. It is breathtaking. Thanks
to the author of these pictures, they are wonderful.
I river rafted the Grand Canyon with my friend and his sons. He was at the time the President of Sea World. It was just gorgeous. Unfortunately cancer took him. So died a very patriotic American.
OMG. These pics are awesome. I wish that I could see the canyon from these views. It is fabulous from any view, but these are really beautiful.
I have been to the marvelous grand canyon several times and never tire of it. The North side is even more
lovely even though you cannot visit it for several months in the winter. It is higher than the South side and usually
has much less attendance. I am 83 and hope to visit this wonderful place along with the great national parks in
Utah many times more.

WAY TO GO GOD!!!!!!! Beautiful!
I have been to the Grand Canyon and it is Magnificent! I was taught in a public setting like this it is not a good idea to have conversations about Political issues or Religion.
I don’t have the right to judge what anyone chooses to believe. I know what I think and that is what matters to me.
So if you believe that God created the heavens and the Earth and all within- The Grand Canyon is just One of his masterpieces- The most beautiful among the many others is Man, Though some remarks may make us wonder if we are worthy of that creation.
Those who believe know they did not evolve- Though God created many species of plants, birds, fishes, mamals, trees and animals that did and have. Human beings excluded. From as far back as we know our ancestors were not Apes or Gorillas- Or Mine were not. If your’s were- Then you probably should not have Children-
Oh, Rose, you are funny. You were taught that it was not a good idea to have a conversation about political or religious issues in a public setting like this, but based on the remarks that followed, I guess that was one lesson you didn’t really take too seriously!
The images shown are a gift of the talented photog and the light to see the meandering power of water over billions and billions of years.
60 years ago I saw them in person and not much has changed since then. Except, some committee created a ugly hanging deck to mar the land so as to cater to tourists.
The Grand Canyon is so awesome. It almost looks like a piece of scenery even when you are standing right there. On the subject of God, it’s a matter of faith…the assured expectation of the things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities not yet beheld. I guess it wouldn’t be called faith if we knew everything. There is a difference between man-made stuff and nature. One big explosion would cause mere destruction, not the organized, balanced and beautiful things we enjoy now. There IS wind eventhough I can’t see it or don’t believe in it.
The first of all creation was the son through whom all things were made. So, if the son was created, could he be God? And if Jesus isn’t God, who is? And if God didn’t create the earth how did it get here? Why is it beautiful? Why is it perfect for us? No doubt the Grand Canyon is grand. Coming upon something so beautiful, is like coming upon a large, lovely home in the wilderness…someone had to have made it and it obviously wasn’t man.
Went to see the CANYON for my bucket list some time ago…..Took my photographer son with me and he and I shot some of the most incredible pics…..If there is a GOD, he does exist in the beauty that he or she created for us to enjoy…..Try to see it for yourself someday…..
I’ve been on 11 raft trips though the grand canyon. It’s the best way to see the canyon.
There is a guide by the name of Tom Vail who gives creationist tours and points out
so called evidence for Noah’s flood.I told a guide from the company that I go with about
him.She told me how hard it is to explain gealogy [she’s a gealogy major in college],when
there are a few of these heavily religius people in the raft.
Folks, the grand canyon was not created by Noah’s flood. It,s just a story. The bible is not
a history or a gealogy book. It’s just a collection of stories. If you have to quote from it
to prove your case as Vail does, then you don’t have much of a case.
I don’t understand you Americans, here is such a beautiful scenery and you go and argue about god.
Who cares who created it, you are so lucky it is in your country, just enjoy the beauty of it
Here, here. Right on. And all that. As I said in my comment at 7:37 on 7/6, Those of you who wish to discuss your religious beliefs, go somewhere else. This is not the place.
EVERYBODY, BERNIE MAY BE RIGHT, BUT I WOULD RATHER LIVE MY LIFE THANKING THERE IS A GOD AND A HEAVEN THAN LIVING IT THANKING THERE ISNT AND ON THE LAST DAY OF MY LIFE FINDING OUT THAT THERE IS A GOD AND HEAVEN. BEEN ALL AROUND THE WORLD WITH THE NAVY AND BELIVE ME I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF PLACES OF BEAUTY AND NOT SO PRETTY. MY GOD HAD A FINGER IN BOTH. HE DIDNT SAY IT WAS GOING TO BE A PIECE OF CAKE ALL YOUR LIFE. I AM NOT MAD OR SHOUTING, I JUST TYPE IN CAPS ALL THE TIME.
I am in total agreement with you Bernie!!!!
